In the 2nd overtime, Kent State administration forfeited the game so they could setup and shoot off fireworks for the noon football kickoff.

Amazing the lack of planning and respect of the players just to shoot off pregame fireworks.

Your post makes no sense.

For those who are confused and don’t want to click the shitty link about a shitty school, the Kent state admin kicked off the field hockey losers so they could shoot fireworks pregame for football.

Include that they forfeited in field hockey so everyone can agree with their decision.

I think logistically/financially, they probably didn't have a choice. But that doesn't make it not a completely shitty thing to do.

I have no problem with this decision. Football pays the bills.

Because Kent State is known for their football team and not Vietnam era massacres.

You need to clarify. The field hockey match didn't involve Kent St.

yes... this is much worse now that I've read it

the game that was ended did NOT involve Kent St.

the game was suspended prior to the 2nd OT period of a tied game and was then flipped from a game that counted to an exhibition

the Kent St. administrator came on the field and ended the game 75 MINUTES before the scheduled firework time (I assume this was to let the pyrotechnicians set up and let the fireworks be made live... still making it a safety issue)

fans for the 2 teams affected are asking for a Title IX investigation since... in their eyes... a women's sport was forced to cancel to make way for a men's sport

that's why I'm ok with it. You want full control over a game's administration? Have it at your home field

I'm sure there will be some monetary compensation made to these 2 teams who had a game they expected to count negated by something like "our football team NEEDS its fireworks show and you're in the boom zone"

Football pays the bills even at schools like Kent State.

I imagine a hotel room stay for the night for the 2 teams will be repaid as well as other travel expenses

could end up being a couple thousand dollars

There is nothing ok about renting your field out only to cancel the game b/c you want 75 minutes to set up fire works. That's some bullshite and will probably cost Kent State some field rentals in the future. Since they are MAC every dollar counts. fricking over your customers like that is horrible business practice.

I just wouldn't have an issue with it happening if Southeastern was playing BYU or something at the Box in one of those early season games where the fans get in free. It's just like if a game gets rained out.

Also they were in overtime... They already played a full regulation game.
