In all seriousness, KC is a soccer hotbed as far as places in the US goes.
Thom Brennaman did warn us that Kansas City is the fág capitol of the US, so that checks out.

I’m pretty sure USA has played Mexico in Vegas…
They have. Unfortunately FIFA has their own requirements for World Cup venues if they want to host. You don't have to take my word for it, this is well-documented as the primary reason for them pulling out

In friendlies. How many World Cup games? Again, these are FIFA requirements

Is anything actually going to be happening in Kansas?

KU is hosting at least one (maybe more) teams as a training facility. Argentina, England, and Netherlands have requested to be based there, but they probably won’t get all three.

That being said, this would be a dumb use of federal funds if Kansas gets any because of a disaster declaration.

As others have said, Kansas City is a soccer hotbed and the games will probably easily sell out. They have had one of the biggest watch party crowds for World Cup games since 2010 in the P&L District.

NFL sidelines are deep enough to fit a soccer field
Sure

But unfortunately without renovations, the majority of said sidelines do not meet the requirements of the field as dictated by the organization running the event

The dome doesn’t have a retractable roof, and the dome doesn’t have natural grass. Two requirements for all World Cup venues.

Can't they just issue more STAR bonds? They love them some STAR bonds over there.

FIFA used the Pontiac Silverdome in 94, when did they start to require roofs that can open?
