2016. I don't know that they really screwed him over as bad as you might think. Pretty clear they were trying to get him additional red zone targets this year in KB and Cotchery (previously just Olsen, really). The smitty thing was unfortunate (see above for my opinion on him) but Lafell was just not producing like a WR2 should be. Money was tight so they did what they could (I think??).

They're in cap hell and have several big contracts i.e Cam, Luke, maybe Hardy coming up so they can't afford to be big spenders anytime soon. They've have young talent to build on so there's that to look forward too
