JUCO Baseball Regional Championship Ends in Double Forfeit over "Brawl"

It was later ruled that the 3rd place finisher, Temple College, would represent that region in the JUCO World Series because of this, instead of McLennan or Cisco, who were playing in the Regional Final when this incident happened
Personally... the umpires and coaches did a good job of keeping the teams separated and actually KEPT IT from becoming a brawl
The double forfeit ruling is a complete overreaction and sending the 3rd place team to the World Series (congrats Temple) is just not the right decision here

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas The Region V Juco baseball tournament has ended in odd fashion, both Cisco and MCC were forced to double forfeit after a benches clearing incident Monday night in which no punches were thrown.
With the Highlanders leading the game 11-9 in the 6th inning, a hard slide at home plate led to words between the Cisco player and MCC catcher Nick Thornquist. The two players appeared to bump chests and the dugouts of both teams emptied. No punches were thrown and the two teams were separated after just moments.
What ensued was a lengthy delay as the umpires cleared the field and spoke with Region V officials. They then went and made a call to the NJCAA. After that conversation the game was suspended and both teams were deemed to forfeit the contest. The game will not be finished and a decisive game on Tuesday that was a possibility will not be played.
Officials will now determine on Tuesday which team from Region V will determine who goes to the Juco World Series. It's possible it could be Cisco or MCC, but more likely that another team will be selected. Temple was the last team eliminated, they lost to MCC Monday afternoon in an elimination game.

Thats so fricking weak..Coaches and Umps handled potential situation correctly and the game shouldve easily continued.

That was the weakest bench clearing "brawl" I may have ever seen

Those are their rules though, very strict. Needs to be tweaked.

Cisco had a legit chance of winning the World Series this year. They were 52-6 going into this game with a boat load of D1 signees and guys who are getting drafted next month.
This is so stupid

That whole region must be loaded. Howard went 2 and Que in the tournament but they have 20 guys committed to play at the next level. Including about 8 SEC schools.
McClennan has probably the top JUCO draft prospect Josh Breaux, (his brother was the Joe Breaux playing for Alabama last weekend). He's committed to Arkansas.

I've seen better brawls in the quad.

LSUA played a double dip in that park 2 weeks ago... lost 6-4 to Science & Arts (Okla.) Drovers before winning 7-4 against Arlington Baptist Patriots
the Texas Airhogs are an independent pro baseball team... and ABU (a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association... not even NAIA) plays their home games there
I know... CSB
