Dean--The link is not working.

Me neither. It isn't an easy thing to beat.

But this is two times in three years. During the third time will he really go off a cliff?
From a pure baseball business standpoint there has to be at least some fear that he might go off the deep end or perhaps relapse during the season, which would be bad for business. The Rangers seem like they will stick by him. AND...they did just extend Ron Washington for 2 years.

And the fact that the Rangers have to hire an "accountability" partner to go with him on the road rubs me the wrong way. But I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to keep a guy of his talent on the straight and narrow.
There's a line of Christian thinking that teaches all men should have an "accountability partner" as there are always temptations floating around.
Think of it this way--if Kobe would have had an accountability partner, would he be facing an expensive divorce right now?

dont know if its been mentioned because i have not read whe whole thread, but i know its a contract year and do you think that cutting him loose will help his problem? No, i think that would be the worst thing to do..it would get him donw and upset and give him more reason to do these things. I think the team should rally around him and help him through this. Im sure it is hard for him

you did?
Absolutely. Mostly for his wife and kids, though, because they've seen some bad things in the past 10 years.
I can't imagine what it would be like to be an addict. It sounds pretty terrible.

so when you went through your prayer ritual or whatever you actually said a prayer for josh hamilton and his wife? That's weird
Posted on 2/3/12 at 12:05 pm to TigerPhan27
Imagine if every time you drank a beer it was headline news, people would think I am the worst person
But seriously as long as he's not relapsing into drugs I don't see why this is such a big deal. If a relapse for him is going to a public place and drinking alcohol every 3 years I say that's a win

Alcohol is hard to quit for good. I've told people I quit drinking before, but I was slipping shite whenever I could.

Why is it weird? The guy faces demons everyday. He seems like a decent fellow. What's so wrong with praying he rights his life?
It's personal preference. I don't go and look at something you do and say "damn, that's weird."

i don't know, just seems weird to pray for baseball players you don't know. but whatever.

He's handling this interview really well. You can't help but feel sorry him. You can tell he's battling.

What is he saying on espn? Can't watch.

I pray for human beings who go through struggles all the time.
Was I not suppose to pray when tornadoes slammed through Tuscaloosa or Joplin? I didn't know any of those people.
This has nothing to do with baseball or any of that. The man is struggling right now.

It's a big deal for an addict. A couple drinks could lead to a crash. You should read stories by addicts. Not a pretty picture.
