Why are baseball players allowed to clear their benches, but basketball players get ejected and suspended if they even take two steps away from their bench?

Because in basketball, when there's a fight on the court, it's 5 on 5...in baseball it's 9 vs. 1

Where can I watch this. I missed most of the game last night. I wouldn't put it past CJ to be a punk about stuff. And that is coming from a Braves fan. I'm even a card carrying Kliq member.

Oh, and Fernandez is one of my favorite non Braves. I'd love to unload a couple of Braves and add him to our roster.

naw it only shows the fernandez HR. it doesnt show what led to the altercation, i.e. the braves going full retard.

CJ has been acting like a bitch recently. Hell, the other day in one of the games Joe was going on about him having a hissy fit at first base for something. I'm not a big fan of guys watching their home runs...however, Fernandez is a pitcher and he just hit his first ever home run in the majors. He may never do it again in his entire career, he should get to enjoy it a bit.

I'm sure being 0 for 3 or whatever it was at that point had CJ pissed. I don't think he acts like as big of a bitch if he's not in the middle of a batting title. Hell, he'll probably never be in the running for a batting title again in his career, so I think he's getting a bit more frustrated than he normally would when he's having a bad night at the plate. That doesn't give him an excuse to be a bitch like he is, but I definitely think it has something to do with it. He needs to stop being such a damn drama queen though, it's getting to be a bit old to say the least.

Am I the only one that heard the post game comments from Hernandez? He was classy by admitting he was hotdogging a bit too much and that McCann was giving him "like father to son" advice.

quote:

After Gattis opened the sixth with his third homer in the past four games, Johnson was robbed of a potential extra-base hit and then seemed to mouth something about Fernandez's fastball. But Johnson said his emotions were truly ignited when Fernandez spit on the ground as he rounded third base. "That's when I got angry personally," Johnson said. "I know Justin [Upton] crushed a ball and it got caught. [Fernandez] was watching him go back to the dugout smiling and stuff like that. I think that was why Gattis was a little upset."

CJ quote
quote:

"The kid is a good pitcher," Johnson said. "He's got some other stuff going on too that upsets people sometimes."

Hernandez quote
quote:

Him and I are really close," Fernandez said of McCann. "[Freddie] Freeman, too. He told me, 'Buddy, you can't do that.' I told him, 'I'm sorry, the game got the best of me.' I was just going to walk away. He was talking to me as a friend, or a dad, teaching a kid. That's how I felt."

LINK

Hernandez was a bit too "unprofessional" which lead to heads getting a little hot. Whether you like it or not, in baseball there are some unwritten rules that if broken get the other team pissed off and things like this happen.

They need to get over themselves. Young pitcher hits an absolute bomb for his first MLB homer. Bunch of pricks

I like baseball. But this is just stupid. This isn't like a batter who hits 30-40 a year. I can understand if someone like Pujols or Cabrera did this..but a first career home run by a pitcher? Let the fricking kid have his moment. Baseball and "traditions". It's why I'm maybe the only one in my friend group that still watches it pretty loyally.

I would love to know how he was unprofessional. Anything he did was in retaliation to CJ from what i saw in the sequence of events. Or are we just ignoring the fact that CJ was cussing him out going down the first base line an inning or so before fernandez's bomb?

I get a potential brawl happening because someone pimped a HR too much, I don't necessarily agree with that but it's something that always happens in the MLB.

But come on getting upset earlier in the game because the pitcher smiled when he got an out? Some of these old school minded baseball players are worse then the No Fun League. I've watched all of his starts this season and it's very entertaining to watch someone who's happy to be there and is having the time of their life in the process.
