Just because he gets press about it, doesn't mean others don't work as hard. I'm sure if you look hard enough, you will find work ethic articles about other players that aren't even near Watt's level. There has to be something more than just "juice and working out."

I'm sure there are guys who put in lots of work.

Look, I'm not saying Watt would be driving UPS trucks if it weren't for muscle enhancers, but I'm not going to believe he is the way the he is because of Gatorade, protein shakes, and orange slices.

And I'm not saying that he doesn't or hasn't used PEDs. But people dismiss his domination of the NFL so easily by saying "did you see him in college? he must be juicing" while ignoring the fact that other players juice and work just as hard (or similar). That's the default response to JJ Watt for one crowd. shite, just look at the route this thread has taken. It turned into a "let's find a reason for Watt's success other than he is just a freak".

I don't know nor care if he did steroids, but you're nuts if you think all of a sudden, he got THAT much better in 1 year with only 1 change, starting steroids.

I don't know how he did it, but it sure is fishy.

Players don't all of a sudden turn into 20 sack NFL players. Not when you hadn't hit double digits at any point in your career.

Coming off of

Jr year Wisc: 4 sacks
Sr year Wisc 7 sacks

Rookie year NFL: 5.5 sacks

He was a "monster" at Wisconsin? Meh, i wouldn't say that. He was very good though. What exactly changed to make him an elite pass rusher? Why couldn't he do this then? How come he can have 2x's as many QB hits as the 2nd place guy in the NFL, yet could only muster 11sacks in 2 years of the Big 10?

Yeah, his dominance can't be ignored. It just irks me whenever his interviews go the route of, "Yeah, I had a workout today at 2 A.M. That's why I'm dominating."

Of course, he would be a complete idiot to say he's juicing. So, I guess I can't blame him.

The dude is on pace to hit triple digit sack mark before he turns 29 years old.

He started playing defensive line in 2009 his first year at Wisconsin. He was still learning the technique of the position.

9 guys in the NFL have hit the 20 sack mark in a season. Let's review

Michael Strahan- small school guy, but had 19 and 14 sack seasons his Jr and SR year in college.

Jared Allen- had 17 sacks as a SR at Idaho, and 10 as a Jr

Mark Gastineau- 27 career college sacks

Reggie White- 15 sacks as a SR at Tenn

Chris Doleman- 25 college sacks as a LB

Lawrence Taylor- no explanation needed

Derrick Thomas- SEC all time leader in Sacks

Demarcus Ware- 10.5 sacks as a SR, 27 for his career

Then we have JJ Watt. 4 sacks as a JR, 7 as a SR at Wisconsin. In the past 3 decades where pass rushers are born, not bred, JJ Watt defies all odds simply by being a late bloomer.
