Irrelevant. They still have to win 2 more games. I don't get how them being one of 4 teams remaining tarnishes the NFL playoff system.

I think I'd rather witness a fluke championship like the Jets anyway then see great teams like 2008 USC or 2006 LSU (and on and on and on and on) get denied a shot just because a few teams got some bullshite wins against them in the middle of the season.

11-7 isn't that much worse than 13-4

Chargers had the better regular season, Jets are the better team and proved it today.

Because SD's kicker missed 3 FG'?

Just because a game has a special name does not mean the team that wins it was the "better" team. a sample size of 16 games > a sample size of 1.

Let's just say he missed 2 FG's... one of those was a 57 yarder.

The kicker is a part of the game last time I checked. Jets shouldn't apologize for Kaeding being a mentally soft choker.

He's being sarcastic. He thinks the Jets winning is categorical proof that the BCS is better.

All it is to me, is proof that the Chargers don't deserve to win a Superbowl. I'm glad we were able to get proof of that on the field.

If there's an argument that the Chargers are one of the four best teams in football, there's really not a good one at all that they're any higher than fourth out of those four.

If anything this proves we need a playoff.

OK, he missed 2 FGs. They lost by 3.

Again who said the Jets should apologize for anything? The system is what it is, they are taking advantage of the fact the regular season doesn't mean that much. Good for them.

My point is going 9-7 then winning 1 game by 3 when the other kicker misses 2 make able and 1 long FG proves they won this 1 game, not that they were better team all year, which they were not.

if you mean this as in, they failed during the NFL's system, then ok

but i don't know if this one loss eliminates the chargers as one of the top 4 teams in the NFL

what is their record compared to the jets as of right now? who has fewer losses?

I did call this when the Colts rolled over for them. Kind of as a joke though, but I was just thinking of the Irony of them "letting" the Jets in the playoffs and knew they'd end up facing them in the AFCCG for some reason. It would be crazy if they frick around and blow it next week.

You mean the system that put them in the best possible place to do what they needed to do to get to the NFL championship game? And the fact that they were unable to capitalize on that is somehow proof there's a flaw in the system?

I would think the Vikings would beat the Mavericks in a game of basketball at this point.

I bet you'd have a hell of a time convincing any coach or player on the Saints, Colts, or Vikings of this.

Do you think the NFL should do away with the playoffs and just match up the teams with the best records in each conference for the Super Bowl?

besides. the missed field goals hurt the chargers but the Jets were driving when the game ended, whose to say they wouldnt have scored a TD if they needed to, they had worn the chargers D down

Was the board like this last year when the Cardinals were making their run even though they wen 9-7 and basically took the last month of the season off?

When did Ghazi start discussing football? I've only seen him in basketball threads. Who does he root for?

take the 6 teams with the best records, regardless of division/conference. seed them. have 1 bye week and then the semis

6 is a good number for the NFL in my opinion. 8 wouldn't be horrible
