they also did a much worse job of getting the ball to the one guy who was unstoppable.
Or maybe Hakeem played good defense and denied the entry pass well throughout the series

we're talking about Hakeem getting 42 more opportunities to score than Shaq. That was a failure on the part of the Magic

Last I checked Shaq was a part of the magic

Regardless of which one was marginally better in that series, your initial argument was that The Dream DOMINATED Shaq which is just
Now just admit you were dead wrong, don't know anything about basketball, and stfu. Thanks in advance

Or Shaq's supporting cast didn't play well (which is what actually happened).
Only one of the two of us actually watched that series. Hint: It wasn't you.

Did I really read through six pages of this without Kareem Abdul- jabaar being mentioned?? He has to be on the short list of players, and for my point guard I would take rajon yes rajon, Jason Kidd or stockton

Since we're talking about the players at their PEAK, this team would absolutely blow the doors off teams and be incredible to watch:
Magic-huge big point, best fastbreak of all time
Jordan- GOAT
Bird- to stretch the D and make sure they don't pack the lane because Magic can't shoot
Lebron- can shift on O to 1-4. Can guard 1-5. Too good a shooter at 4, too physically dominant 1-3
Bill Walton- the perfect C. Fundamental qb of the D, ultimate winner. Amazing passer.
Reserves
West- best shooter ever?
Duncan- fits in any situation
Jabbar- would get more run on this team if he wasn't a locker room cancer
Kobe- would get more run on this team but in his prime hadn't figured out how to pass.
Pippen: ultimate glue guy D
Russell: ultimate winner, tactician, competitor. Probably a 4 on this team
Kevin Durant: just in case we need a shooter off the bench who can get his shot anytime he wants.
Didn't make the cut:
-Shaq/wilt Not dealing with hack a shaq
-any PG from today. Too easy for Magic, Lebron, Bird, Walton, West- some of the best passers ever to need a ball dominant pg like CP3, rondo
Coach: Pat Riley
Assistants: coach k, popovich

The scenario is evil aliens challenge us to a basketball game for the fate of humanity. Kind of like Spacejam. Except we have a time machine and can select any player from history in their prime.
5 starters, 7 back-ups
Starting Lineup
PG Magic Johnson - dynamic all around, elite scorer, GOAT distributor
SG Michael Jordan - GOAT
SF LeBron James - SGOAT
PF Tim Duncan - mr fundamental
C Hakeem Olajuwon - the man of a thousand post moves
Reserves
Shaquille O'Neal - We need some enormous unstoppable freaks of nature on the bench. We don't know what the aliens are gonna throw at us
Wilt Chamberlain - See above
Scottie Pippen - greatest defending forward of all time, incredible all-around player, dynamic scorer
Larry Bird - elite all-around player, can heat up faster than anyone
John Stockton - to distribute and run the pick and roll
Bill Russell - elite blocker and post player, winner
Kobe Bryant - can heat up quickly and take over a game
1. Somebody else using the alien test just warms my heart.
2. Stockton shouldn't be on this team. I'd go Isiah or Jerry West over Stockton.
3. I agree with your starting lineup.

Simmons had this discussion before with Bob Ryan. This was his team:
Magic Johnson
Michael Jordan
LeBron James
Larry Bird
Bill Walton
Basically, you have to have big guys who are willing to rebound and share the ball. Johnson, James, Bird, and Walton all fit that mold. Then you have Jordan, who is your "go-to guy."
I really like this team, to be honest. Walton would be PERFECT for a team like this.

Since Shaq was basically just a bigger version of Wilt, I think we should ditch Wilt and insert Kareem.

Walton circa 1977? I might be able to go along with this.

He played extremely hard, was selfless, a magnificent passer, all he cared about was winning, he could play within a lot of different styles, you wouldn't have to worry about him wanting the ball, etc.
He has to be on the 12-man roster, at the very least.

You gotta have Pippen. If they have a dominant forward, Pippen is our best hope of containing him.
Posted on 5/6/13 at 3:51 pm to genro
Eh, Pippen is a better defender than LeBron.
And although LeBron is a better off-the-ball defender, he's proven to be a more than capable on-ball defender as well.
I would have Pippen on the team, but there are so many good players that I could see reasons for leaving him off.

My team:
Starting 5:
Magic
Jordan
Lebron
Bird
Hakeem
Reserves:
Tim Duncan
Barkley
Isiah Thomas
Kobe -- could use offensive firepower coming off the bench.
Bill Russell -- Bill russell as backup PF...wow.
Bill Walton
Jerry West -- I want another shooter in there.
Controversial missed cuts:
Shaq/Wilt: we don't want the aliens just fouling these guys every time down the floor.
Kareem: he was a huge dick.

No he isn't. Lebron is Pippen 2.0.
ETA: Lebron James is better than a computerized ideal defender
