Wait, wut?
Some more details.
The network includes about 680 Wi-Fi access points -- one for every 100 seats in the stadium -- and 12,000 Ethernet ports, which allow everything from phone systems to video cameras to connect. It also includes a superfast 40-gigabit-per-second fiber-optic cable "backbone" that connects the stadium's network to the broader Internet. That's 10,000 times faster than what federal regulators classify as broadband.
In addition 1,700 Bluetooth beacons have been installed. The beacons can be used to communicate wirelessly with fans in many ways including to gauge and communicate bathroom lines, with the goal of providing information related to the nearest bathroom, shortest wait time, and most optimal time.

This is why the Cowboys are so evil. Arlington exists solely to house the Rangers, Cowboys, and Six Flags. there is alsmot nothing local, and no city neighborhood nearby. You have to pay to park, as there are literally, no free lots within a mile of the stadium. Heck, you can find a $20 lot, and it is stil over a mil walk to the stadium. And you still have no place to buy beer or some cool local bar.
It's a city designed to perpetuate the racket. The Cowboys are Arlington's mealticket, so they bend over backwards to screw the consumer and help Jerry out... or get their cut, too.
EDITED TO ADD: You could pay $29 and get standing room tickets that have NO VIEW OF THE FIELD, but a seat in the 400 section ranges from $125 to $450. that's right, a seat in the top level can cost you $450.
I can't wait to see how much tickets are going to cost to the college football championship game there.
Hell, I think the face value of Cotton Bowl tickets is around $125. That's insane.

I get what's going on and I get what they're saying, but this growing disconnect between teams and their most loyal, blue collar fans is going to bite them in the arse at some point, I would think.
Bill Simmons has written about this -- it's getting to the point where Joe Fan just goes to one or two games a year. Why bother shelling out all the money and putting up with all the BS with traffic and parking, when you can stay at home and watch the game on a nice high def TV? And you can enjoy all the beer and food in your fridge...
The next time the economy goes in the crapper, it could be bad for pro sports team attendance. The bubble of corporate support that fills the stadiums and luxury boxes may pop.

quote:It depends on the person I guess. I've been to a game and it was okay, but you endure a lot of tv timeouts and dudes standing around. I imagine this is the same for a big time college game thou, but at least you have a band playing.
I've never been to an NFL game. Are they worth the money?

It would cost $641 for a family of four to attend a 49ers game
