That simply isn’t correct. All the time people overpay in economics in order to reach another goal elsewhere. It’s clear that’s what the Saudis are doing here.

If your business is making money off golf, Rahm isn’t worthy anywhere near 500 million. The entire groups of players isn’t even worth that if you exclude tiger

How is it not correct. They are getting the money. They are worth that amount to liv who’s paying them. They aren’t worth that ti the pga who isn’t paying them.

For anyone who doesn’t want to lose 100s of millions, they aren’t worth that

I can’t tell if you are serious with this take..

Why are you trying to pretend like the PIF operates within the normal constraints of supply and demand economics?

I see your point, but I'm not sure I'd call it "basic economics" if it's a model that completely unsustainable.

Did ups sign the labor agreement. You’re worth what someone is willing to give you. I have no say in that and I hate what rising labor costs are doing but that’s capitalism when labor is organized

They operate under their own rules, unless you want the government stepping in, how does one stop them from offering what they deem worthy. Their reasons for offering these contracts are meaningless because they are allowed to under current laws.

Would be the equivalent of opening a restaurant and laying all the cooks 2 million dollars and losing 100s of thousands weekly and not giving a frick and people like Trola blame the old restaurant for the cooks leaving

We understand that. But you are trying to act like the pga tour could have stopped players from leaving even though you admit they aren’t playing in the same arena or galaxy as the tour in terms of money

I use basic because it’s supply and demand. The supply of world class popular golfers is small. The saudis feel the demand or maybe their control is worth the price.

It doesn’t matter why to me. What matters is the lack of forth sight by the pga to get ahead of this.. the treatment of those that left, the BS with the rankings and the unwillingness to engage the concerns.

Looking at other pro sports 400 million contracts for superstars seems to be the norm these days. Ohtani could be in the 600 million range. The NFL, NBA, and MLB are handing out 400 million dollar contracts every year. Why not pro golfers?

Why don’t you check and see what the Nfl, mlb, and nba bring in compared to golf

The revenue is roughly 10x more

I only watch the majors and Ryder Cup so it hasn't impacted my watching at all.

How would you like them to respond when an another organization is poaching their players paying them half a billion dollars?

Those players would have continued to play in the prestige pga events if they hadnt banned them

Players, Phoenix, Memorial, etc. Nobody cared about the 3M open even before LIV.

PGA drove them off and created the lawsuits they cant afford to fight

Does LIV even have a tv deal? They definitely aren't pulling in the live crowds like those sports listed.

Have you been to the gas pumps? Look at how much the Saudis are bringing in. And I'm sure they appreciate our continued support of their new league.
