Wouldn’t even start on a competitive rec league with both his inability and lack of balls to shoot.

He would be a perfect fit for the pels instead of Zion bringing it up the court Simmons can. Lonzo straight up for Simmons

ha!
if I'm coaching against him the instant his team is shooting 1 and 1 I'm directing a bench player to attack him at mid court and go for deflections or steals and do not worry if you foul him.

Good luck with that if he’s on a team where there’s 1-2 other primary ball handlers to initiate the offense. Only thing that accomplishes is putting your team in the bonus quickly. You guys pretend like this is the first player to ever be bad at free throws

Also the NBA doesn’t have 1 and 1 fouls so I’m sorry if I don’t have much fear of you as an opposing NBA coach.

any normal person goes up strong with two hands and puts it on the glass for 2 points and in so doing expects to be bumped and welcomes the ft attempt(s).

He would be an awful fit unless we traded everybody else but he and Zion for a bunch of shooters.

I forgot.
after 5th foul they get two shots.
fine. hes wilt shaq level.
what lonzo was.

anyhow I attack him before the play unfolds. get the ball or send him to the line.

and I see people saying take him for pels.
I would stop following them.
he disgusts me.

What are you going to do in the last two minutes of the game?

Also again with strong offensive ball handlers, all that will accomplish will be putting you into the bonus super early and letting the non Simmons players kill you with FTs.

In a better system they would simply let you foul Simmons all you wanted until they got to the bonus, then could take him out and attack the rim constantly to get to the line. If the game is still close at that point, Simmons can go out there all he wants because it becomes a foul shot plus possession on off ball fouls

We have a ton of guys in the league who made a career out of simply being a very good defender. I’m not sure why people can’t envision a similar role for Simmons

This used to happen all the time in big games at LSU. Ben would shut down and not even want the ball. (See the Oklahoma game vs. Buddy Heild). Of course back then Johnny Jones got all of the blame for Ben not touching the ball.

He is like a westbrook in that you have to put specific guys around him to best use him. He doesn’t fit with a big who is at his best around the rim. Give him a Stretch big to where he can penetrate and dish or finish is what is best for Ben. MIL has wisely done the same thing with Giannis.

Except for when he simply refuses to shoot no matter what.

lmao why? Lonzo has actually improved his shot since entering the league and they've played the same amount of seasons. Ben is better at everything else I'll give you, but only by a little. Certainly not by enough to justify the extra cap hit and subsequent limited ability to sign anyone else that would result from such a trade. So a big triple stamped "no thank you" on that suggestion.

The Pels need to get shooters in a big way, I can't think of anything more disastrous with that in mind than taking on Simmons and that ~$180 mil contract

I wonder how he feels now after reflecting on his media interview when he asked to be placed on Ice Trea for the duration of the series after game #2?

I don’t see why he would feel any different about it.

Maybe the Pelicans will pick him up this season… Seems like a good fit?
