they said the only way NFL would work, is they would have to build a practice facility on east coast for teams who are traveling to London for weeks game,

Said they would leave for East coast practice facility on Monday, practice there till friday, then fly to London friday night, then play sunday.

European fans won't truly embrace a closed system (no pro/rel) American import on a large enough scale to make it happen.

Yeah you could have a basketball team in Madrid or a football team in Berlin but as mentioned you need multiple teams to make it work logistically.

Yall are overthinking it... for football, you play once a week. these teams either have their own planes or charter them to their specifications... i guess we should give byes the week after the Giants play the Seahawks? idk? the Jets and the Raiders? Chargers and Jaguars?

It's about 8, but you're looking at the shortest possible flight across to Europe against the longest possible flight domestically. Not an apples to apples comparison.

Also, how far is it from Houston to London? How about LA? San Fran? Chicago? And beyond that, assuming the team doesn't end up in London, how far to Berlin?

Imagine the travel schedule for the team over there that have to come across the US 10 times in a season (minimum). Unreasonable.

And probably most important is how effed up the TV broadcasts would be. They'd have to play every game on Sunday night, and that would compete with the marquee games over here. Not realistic.
