I think that as well. If you look at the footage from turn 3, you can see the cockpit of his car heading directly into the catchfence.

I'd drive an Indy car on an empty track but I'd never race one. You literally have no protection. And just barely bumping tires can put you in a world of hurt. I know NASCAR has had its fair share of fatalities, but today's cup cars have to be ten times safer than an Indy car.

Taking any car at a high rate of speed is a rush and I guess the drivers have to turn off that thought in their head about the risk. I remember when I first got my car I got it up to 140 but then afterwards I thought "damn, it something was in the road I would be screwed"

Damn, thats the best (or worst) footage I've seen of it yet.....Tough to watch...He didnt stand a chance of surviving that.
