Could have done without the n word on national tv but i like it. Gonna make the buildup to the fight more spicy.

The comments made by dricus about him being the first true african champ or whatever got him what he wanted and im sure he knew it wouldnt be well received. Now he gotta back them up. His point was valid but many fighters move from their continent or country to pursue a better life or training.

Cant hold that against him he is usually the smaller fighter at 145 islam is way bigger than him. Think about what isl did to guys like poirier, charles, etc.

I course I can hold it against him because he willingly went up to 155 to get the LW belt. It’s not like he weighed in at 145 vs Islam. There was a chance that he was heavier than Islam during that fight.

Btw, Islam will smash Poirier/Gaethje winner. There’s a chance either might not be ready. And Charles said he’s not ready. Good chance we get to see the rematch.

I hated it. Making this fight about racism, colonialism, and the n word is terrible. It already would have had a ton of hype.

I have learned from another professional fighter that the PFL has acquired bellator

Wow... That's pretty massive.. Both for the fact that Bellator was unsustainable/had to sell out and that PFL was able to absorb them.

This means Francis will presumably now be fighting Bader for the HW title, which is a hell of a fight.

Bellator also has some absute killers on their roster at the top.

def an interesting scenario when you consider espn backs pfl. dana always seems to be a step ahead of everyone though and honestly I wouldnt be mad about the UFC launching their own ppv model or going somewhere else so I dont have to send money to espn. pfl and bellator have been horrible with marketing and building up fighters where as the ufc has really flourished in that respect. a large part of the ufc roster has now come from the various series that the ufc produce and in the case of pfl/bellator the "name" fighters are all former ufc 99% of the time from either of those organizations.

How great is it that we don't have to use/hear the name BELLATOR ever again?

PFL is a shite name, too, but it's so much better than fricking Bellator.

PFL sounds too much like that fake Oreo league that the Mannings did 9n commercials like 10 yrs ago.

Going from Ultimate Fighting Championahip to UFC was a genius name.

I also don't think Dana will go back to a PPV only model because they make the bulk of their money now off the ESPN deal. It's set up so it really doesn't matter how much PPVs they sell anymore.

I think Dana also likes ESPN a ton more than being relegated to FS1 like he was in his previous deal.

PFL being on ESPN, though, would piss me off if I was UFC, especially if PFL ever starts doing original series like Dana does. The Ultimate Fighter essentially made UFC what they are today.

No need to reveal the source. I believe it. Scott Coker has been talking about merging with PFL since June.

My intuition told me that those two companies would gave to come together at some point.

I’m guessing next potential step is a fighters union

Can an organization even like PFL/Bellator even afford to stay afloat with a Union revenue split?

I dont doubt the 2 leagues have guys that could compete in the UFC.... But the UFC is just soooo much better at marketing and the production value of the UFC is light years ahead of the competition. I am also a huge fan of dana white. I know he is a piece of shite(albeit the good kind that gets shite done) and whatnot but more often than not the dude is right and gets the fights the fans want to see. I love that he gives zero shits about being politically correct and the dude is a media genius. Think about all the controversies he has dealt with in the fight game and also personally and nothing sticks. Gonna be interesting to see what happens with the UFC and the fight game overall once he hangs it up. It wouldnt surprise me if some of this crap is about trying to consolidate and take on dana. The fighters union is one way to possibly get some traction because that could give outside influence a voice at the UFC table and cause disruption. I know jake paul is affiliated with the PFL and has been a voice against the UFC and dana.. I also noticed that he got much quieter once dana brought in prime as a sponsor.

I may actually be going to an Apex event in either August or September. I know multiple strikers and Slap News has given me an outlet the media route is always an option
