From Dave Te-Carolina In Lead for San Fran's #2

nflscouting : 4/24/2017 2:42 pm

Cincinnati & Carolina are in heavy talks with San Francisco, but Carolina's offer of three picks (first, second, third) is currently the best offer San Francisco has for the #2 pick. Word is that Cleveland has asked for time to make a presentation to the 49ers, but if the Carolina deal goes through, it is with the Panthers' intention of taking Fournette. While San Fran has been linked to Solomon Thomas at #2 & he might perchance slide to #8, I am hearing that if still there, Lynch will pounce on McCaffrey. There's a sideline view there, as Payton & the Saints want McCaffrey and with 3 choices in the first two rounds, they could put another package that the 49ers neophyte GM might take. Some in the organization feel that Lynch could trade down even further (after Carolina/NO mess weeds out), as the Pokes are trying to angle up & see if Conley or Melinfowu fall into their laps.

Just the chatter from talking to a San Fran exec this AM

Take it with as much credibility as you want.

I think San Fran will stay, and take Solomon Thomas. But if Carolina were to trade up for LF, then I think the Jags would take one of the DL (Solomon Thomas, or Jonathen Allen) if availible still, or Jamal Adams. but this rumor of Deshaun Watson sounds interesting. I'd personally rather get Adams, or Watson. Alot of NFL guys say Jamal Adams is the least likley to bust. And D Watson, its risky, but would just bring some exitement for the fans. Who knows how he'll be as an NFL QB.

Why would the Jags need a smokescreen? That only happens if J'ville is scared another team is going to trade up and jump in front of them to take a player they have targeted(Watson). I don't see any team spending a fortune in picks to trade into a top 3 spot, then reach for a QB.

Teams reach for a QB in the draft all the time, and they trade up for highly rated QBs. When was the last time a team did both?

The Jags didn't create a smoke-screen. He meant that media, and social media created a smoke-screen because nobody thinks the Jags are drafting a QB. So most people would be blind-sided by the Jags drafting Watson at 4. I think he just used the term smoke-screen poorly.

the Leonard Fornette to the Jags idea is just a smoke-screen, and apparently the Jags are very inerested in Deshaun Watson at the 4th spot

Why would they need to keep this a secret? No one is taking Watson at #1, 2 or 3.

shite I didm't know that. Thats pretty interesting. I found a video with Cowherd and Coach Mac right here.

Cowherd says to Mac "We were a couple of college kids, 30 years ago, with dreams, no money, Skull, and nothin else" Welp I know where Mac got those teeth stains now.

You gotta get a decent back up bro. Like last year, I drafted Cam Newton in the first round. We had got to the fourth round, and Matt Ryan was still on the board, so I picked up him. Funny how that turned out. Matty Ice owned in fantasy this year. You never know who gonna go off in fantasy from year-to-year.

Beautifully put. For me those are almost the same thing. Many a team has toiled in mediocrity because they were cursed with a QB who was too good to move on from but not good enough to win with.

you drafted 2 QBs with your first 4 picks? Did you have a winning record?

I've only played Fantasy football twice(this year and last year) in 10 man league, and won my league both years, and drafted a QB in the first round both years.

My thoughts with drafting Cam last year was, he scores rushing TD's wich is more points than passing TD's , and He was the league MVP the year before. With running TD's comes him being prone to injury tho, so I wanted an above average QB to back him up. Thats why I drafted to QB's so early. It payed-off (literally) in the end.
