I think overcoming a bully is huge for character development and self confidence. It teaches conflict resolution, and basically how to deal with shitty people. Bullying has been around since the dawn of man. It's not some new fad just because Ellen Degeneres wants to hold your hand about it.

but there are benefits to bullying
This right here is an example of us throwing the term around way too lightly. A lot of "bullying" isn't bullying.

I'd say, though, that the one benefit I got from being bullied was knowing that there are bullies in the world, and I've got to figure out some way to deal with it on my own at some point because moms, dads, and teachers aren't always around. It was a simple thing for me, but I understand it isn't so simple for a lot of people.

I just said that because that was the main argument of the pro-cooper crowd

This is a League cultural issue-- not race, but conduct-- with things going on outside of just player interaction (and the more thuggish mentality being shown by bigger POS than Incognito). This is the perfect opportunity for the League to take a stand, and also deflect blame.

bullying? it teaches you that there is stratification in life. you can be the alpha, but you won't always be the alpha. you learn how groups perceive value/strength and how they reward those with the characteristics and punish those without. these lessons, while harsh, are very important for the development of the concept of self and the concept of conformity/individuality. these are value judgments that can only really be formed through stratification. you don't have to accept bullying, just as you don't have to reject bullying.

hazing is very important for groups. it strips the individuality from a person so they understand they're not an individual working with other individuals. they are part of a group, and they must sacrifice parts of themselves to better the group. martin, for an easy example, refused to do this, so he could never be considered part of the group. the military is another good (yet extreme) example. if you have to work as a unit, you can only do that if everyone is acting as a unit, and not a group of individuals. even a single individual can destroy the unit in whatever conflict the group is formed to participate in

And you had to go there still?

You don't have to opine on everything. Restraint is a virtue.

Industries where you will be dealing with a lot of failure in your entire career. Yet again, if you are some sort of salesman, the company and the people you work with need to know you won't just walk out in the middle of a tough negotitation because your feelings were hurt or your crumbled under the pressure.

Woah. I missed this the first time around.

I can't believe how ignorant that statement is. Has bullying caused me some distress in my life? Yes. I've seen what rape does to people, it destroys them. Too many of my friends have been raped at some point in my life, and you can tell it's just an open wound at all times.
