So, there are illegal defenses in the NBA. Call it whatever you want if you like but you can’t just play any zone like a college team can because that isn’t LEGAL in the NBA.

You can play any zone you want to play as long as you keep the paint defender moving in and out. The old school illegal defensive rules outlawed zones period. Now certain coaches were smart enough to trick the officials and play a matchup zone and not get called but in todays game that isn't needed because there are no rules against types of defense just how long your help defenders can be in the lane in zone or in man. That's why you see teams playing man get defensive 3 second calls. Man to man defense isn't against the rules but having your help defender camp out in the lane over 3 seconds is. Zone defense isn't illegal but having your paint defender camp out in the lane over 3 seconds is. The type of defense you are playing isn't relevant.

They have been using sweatshops since the 70s.

I don’t give a flying frick either way. But damning Lebron for not taking some stand on china while not mentioning mj is so damn ridiculous

Neither MJ or Lebron give a frick about china or the Chinese. They like money

Do you really think China was different in the 1980s than they are now?

Maybe. Maybe not. Likely we have more technology showing us more easily what is going on.

But lebron is so politically outspoken on some issues but conveniently remains silent on the ones about daddy China. Or he says he “doesn’t have enough information” to comment lol

And then there’s the Morey incident lol

Lebron and mj are both egotistical shitheads that don’t care about anyone other than themselves

Which is why these threads are always classic. Who gives a frick about either one of them on a personal level? Only females should care.

The problem is lebron is perfectly fine with being outspoken on several other political issues, but whenever they have to do with China, he suddenly needs more info on the situation or calls people with direct knowledge of it “misinformed”

The politards care obviously. It's why they make 10 Lebron threads a week.

They try to disguise it as being about basketball, but it's so obvious that it isn't.

Because he injects politics into a lot of what he does. He’s inviting the off the court criticism when h should just shite up and play basketball, like MJ did

And your buddy Corinthians is going on and on about lebrons personal life

There are dozens and dozens of articles from the 80s and 90s complaining about teams like Bulls, Sonics, Knicks and Pistons stretching or manipulating the rules to play zone defenses back then. The only real change from the original illegal D to the 3 second rule is the leniency on digging and help position. In the old days you couldn’t be caught in between on a post dig or help on a perimeter player but now you're allowed to do it. but you cant go out there and sit in a 2-3 or 1-3-1 zone. the only actual zone alignment you'll see in the NBA is 1-2-2 which is really just a sagging man to man the way they play it.

Lots of people in this thread act like they know Lebron and Jordan personally. By all accounts Michael Jordan was not an ideal human being. Yes he was a fierce competitor and that’s something to model after. He also appeared to be a ruthless dictator and brutal teammate.

Michael Jordan can’t take criticism at all. He has famously never talked to Charles Barkley (his best friend for years) because he criticized his time as an owner. Doesn’t sound far off from “whining about calls” which is one reason someone said Lebron was a terrible person in this thread.

Mostly it feels like people here have really hated Lebron for joining a team like the Heat (which wasnt as talented as the Jordan Bulls so thats weird) and for supporting democratic presidents and ideals (which i hate too).

MJ also famously stayed quiet because "Republicans buy shoes too." Big time role model right there. Almost like $ was more important than anything.

OR.... Hear me out

MAYBE everyone knows the Refs/ league help him every year for the past 5 or so years AFTER he created super teams to have a better chance of winning a championships for years.

AND still bitches about how he's somehow always at a disadvantage or its someons else's fault.

He changed the league for worse, only cares about himself, and is generally a shite person/ role model.

Plenty of teams utilize matchup 2-3 zones. The Heat have been using it for years.

They run it 8% of the time and that’s 1 team plus it’s a matchup zone.
