I think he has a serious disdain for the NFL's policies. I think it's hilarious the roundabout ways a millionaire fights a billionaire, but hey...it's entertainment.
He's got the same outlook at Nick Diaz, I think. Nick Diaz is an MMA fighter (if you don't know), and has no-showed pre-fight press conferences, and other stuff before. He hates talking to the media.

In his defense, he says "I've never not shown up to a fight. I'm here to fight. I'm not here for the "beauty pageant"".

Same thing when Marshawn Lynch says "I'm about that action, boss". He wants to play football... he's not there for the "beauty pageant".

Look Marshawn needs to grow up...when you are paid that kind of money to play a game you have a great responsibility

On the other hand, the NFL is a power hungry machine that makes up their own rules, is more political than its ever been, has no sense of accountability, does what it wants, and tells everyone else to suck it

So while Marshawn is an attention whore and needs to become an adult...my disdain for the NFL easily trumps what Marshawn is doing...keep making the NFL looks stupid...I support you Marshawn

The NFL isn't alone in this policy. You get paid millions. Deal with it.

He is dealing with it. You don't like how he's dealing with it.

Every time he's available to the media, they all crowd around and let him do this shtick. If no one showed up, he wouldn't act the way he does, it wouldn't get reported, and people on here wouldn't get their panties in a bunch.

Yeah. It's fricking hilarious. Nothing funnier has ever happened. Ever. It's the funniest thing I can think of.

I can't understand the lack of respect for what he's doing. He doesn't want to speak to the media for whatever reason, (none of our business), and chooses not to conform. I personally despise the idea that everyone should simply "do what they're told".

Because it's an easy weekly article for them. Sherman ain't going anywhere so that's another easy article full of soundbites later on.

The media is totally fine with Marshawn's act.

On the other hand, I'm strangely proud of this thread. Normally, we would have had five posts of "HE HAS SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER, DICKS!! THIS IS TORTURE FOR HIM!! " type posts by now. People are finally wising up. Kudos.

Just seems like a waste of time to me. I guess if I were a journalist I'd be trying to get something that no one else has. If they need this from him to make an article then they're a bunch of no-talent hacks.

Does he have social anxiety or does he just hate the media?

From what I've seen over the past few years, he's comfortable in one-on-one interviews, but extremely uncomfortable with a group of people interviewing him. I've seen that he's considering firing back at the NFL with a lawsuit that they aren't recognizing his social anxiety issues. I think his social anxiety is legit when he's surrounded by a group of reporters. Last year at media day he looked like he was about to cry.
