LOL at the guy saying that if Tiger wins there should be an * by the win. Also at the guy saying that Tigers legacy hinges on this situation.

Four days or a career of golf shouldn't be defined by such a small detail and it is only a big deal to people crying about it.

Also quit justifying your opinions to DQ him by saying you root for him....that is fricking dumb. That is like telling your wife how hot she is while beating her with a stick.

LOL if you think Tiger would penalize himself. Golf is a game of integrity. Tiger has none.

Ever since Tiger has been on tour they have been catering to him and making him think he can do no wrong.

How do I not know the rules. I dont see how the HD rule is in effect here. Tiger admitted he played from the incorrect spot to gain a competitive advantage .. he should be DQed

quote:

Rule 20-7c – Playing From A Wrong Place. Rule 20-7a says that you have played from a wrong place if you make a stroke at your ball in play either (a) on a part of the course where the Rules do not permit a stroke to be made or a ball to be dropped or placed; or (b) when the Rules require a dropped ball to be re-dropped or a moved ball to be replaced.

Playing from a wrong place in stroke play is a two-stroke penalty. In most cases, you are required to finish the hole with the ball that was played from the wrong place without correcting the error.

However, there are times when you might gain a significant advantage by playing from a wrong place. When this happens, you are considered to have committed a serious breach of playing from a wrong place. If you commit a serious breach, you must correct the error before starting play of the next hole in your round or you will be disqualified.

This is why some people hate golf. The rule states you drop in line as far back as you want from where the ball last crossed (crossed) the hazard. So I guess now crossing something seems to mean the same as going into something. Also NEARLY now means EXACTLY! This is awful. The guy made some terrible mistakes in his life but this isn't one of them. I fricking hate the PGA.

He should withdraw and tell the masters to suck it as he takes the ratings with him

The green jackets who met behind closed doors with Tiger need to go to the press room, summon the media and explain why they made the ruling they did. They aren't helping the situation by remaining silent.

And miss one of his best chances to win another major in the twilight of his career?

Don't be stupid

They won't DQ him. The "Tiger Rule" is in effect.

Review all drops from last twenty years and see just how close the drops were either to the line of entry or to the last shot played.

If the drops derivate by inches/feet, then retroactively dq player or assess penalty.

He took an illegal drop plain and simple. He, unknowingly, even admitted to doing so in an interview after the round. This is golf not the WWE - he should start being a good role model for the first time in his life and do the right thing ..

This won't happen. Tiger is too full of himself of do the right thing. If they deem the drop illegal, he should be DQ'd. The ratings have been at the highest levels in history the past few years, and he was not in contention in most of these majors. No player is bigger than the game. The only viewers they will lose are the pussies that only watch the Masters all year long and have no understanding on the historical value and integrity of the game.

That's one subsection of the rule, but it also states that he has to go back "on the line in which the ball entered the hazard, and the hole."

You don't know the rules, which is probably a false premise on why you hate the PGA.

Exactly

Paddy's situation(and the application of this rule) and this situation are not the same. Paddy could not have possibly known the ball had moved and that he was violating the rules. Tiger was ignorant of the rule and admitted to dropping further back in order to give himself a better distance.

shite even if it wasn't on camera and they just had a recording of his interview...he still admitted to violating the rule.
