Jack played against better competition
I really can't stand to hear this. The top was heavier when Jack played, but the competition is 10x deeper today than it was when Jack played. In the 60s and 70s, there were a handful of guys capable of winning a given major. Now, half the field is capable. There's so much more talent now. This is evidenced by what's currently going on....14 different players have won the last 14 majors.
Also, it isn't fair to Tiger to say that his competition was bad because he dominated them. IMO, that's just more evidence in favor of Tiger.

Tiger achieved the slam faster than jack. I think a year and a half faster. Basically, tiger did everything faster than jack.
Hmmmm, per attempts?

Per attempt, age, however you want to measure it.
Posted on 4/9/12 at 9:26 pm to DP40
In fact, I am not sure which achievement jack did at a faster rate or earlier age than tiger.

Tiger lacked top level competition. Deeper yes, but top players, no.
But using your argument, Tiger is getting dominated by this "deeper" competition now.....dominated.
A 10 year run of great golf makes him Borg-like in Tennis years, not Nicklaus-like.
Makes Woods no better than 2nd best at best now and it's arguable now, today. Maybe only third, fourth best ever currently...arguably.

Dominated? I believe he won 2 weeks ago by 5. Also, he has been injured and completely overhauled his swing recently. Give it time.
Posted on 4/9/12 at 9:30 pm to DP40
He is still 7 in the world, not being dominated at all. You are tripping bro. Take those blinders off!

Hold on so your saying that Tiger's run from 1999-2008 puts him at 3rd or 4th best ever? Are you fricking kidding me?
If he never took another swing he would finished at #2 all-time.

Argue how tiger is 4th best ever. People just can't see past hatred and I love it.

Not kidding considering his current play, which will never get him another major.
Longevity does matter and if Tiger can't get better than the last three years then he will be just another golfer from here on, nothing great at this point, which makes him being the best ever a joke.
One win in three years on tour? Greatness.
I see the Tiger fans are out tonight. Party animals, like Tiger.

Tiger is getting dominated by this "deeper" competition
bullshite. He's got top fives in 5 of his last 7 stroke play events, and he just dominated the field at Bay Hill. Before this year, he had consecutive top 4 finishes at the Masters and a top 4 finish at the 2010 US Open. And that's while he was revamping his swing, healing from major injury, and getting his personal life back in order.

You can't say this for certain. How do you know Phil, Vijay, and Ernie wouldn't have several more majors a piece if Tiger wasn't kicking their asses from 1999-2008?

You can say Tiger is 2nd, but once you put him 3rd or worse, you lose a lot of credibility.

It's gonna be so funny when Tiger breaks Jack's record. I can't wait. Hell, Snead's won't take much longer but I think Jack's could last for 7-8 yrs. So, enjoy the 2nd greatest golfers achievements while the few he has left last.

I'm not really a fan of Tiger. I like to see him play well because when he does, he does some of the most amazing things ever done on a golf course, and it's enjoyable to watch. I do hope he breaks Jack's record because I want to say the best ever played during my lifetime.
Now, explain why you hate Tiger so much.

Has he not gotten better? he won a tournament 3 weeks ago.
Obviously there's no arguing with you, you hate Tiger, you said as much in the Masters thread this weekend.

The moment Tiger gets brought up the retards come running with blind hatred for him.

This.
Also, about 50% of people that really know golf say that if tiger retires today they will consider him the goat.

I don't. I don't buy into his phony marketing of being "The One" that he embraced.
He is not a family man, man of character, or conducts himself in the standards that golf entails.
I actually hate fans like you that think you MUST see the best ever and inflate the stature of those who might rival the best evers of the past.
You and your ilk are actually the worst fans because of your desire to see what no man ever has AND thinking you actually have when you have no clue. You hang on ESPN's every highlight and "fact" in hopes it proves you are living in the greatest sports era ever and that no man can rival my visual exploits and every player in every sport is the best in "MY" lifetime.
Truth is, the good old days could have rivaled the athletic wonders of today if given the opportunities of technology and sports medicine.
Truth is part II, some athletic wonders of yesteryear will never be beaten or bested. You are not entitled to see the best of everything even though you obviously feel entitled, or deeply desirous to do so.
Edit: I'm out for the night. You race-baiters jerk each other off the rest of the night. I'll reply tomorrow to logical, not race-baiting idiots.

Who said anything about race in this thread? Aside from you, that is. No one even had to bait you in order to get you to bring out your true motives.

I never said I had to see the best ever. I would just like to. I'm completely objective in my analysis of Tiger and Jack because, unlike you, I don't have an agenda favoring either. I think Tiger is the most dominant golfer ever, but Jack is still the GOAT for now.

Who gives a shite? If Ford would've had better technology, he would've built a corvette instead of a model T. If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle. In fact, the very thing you're accusing me of is exactly what you are...a sports fan who wants to make sure the athletes of his era are the best of all time. So, you're willing to spew bullshite like, "Tiger is the 4th best ever" in order to keep your memories alive. Now, who's delirious and entitled?
