If the Te'o GF death never happens back in Sept., where does he get drafted?

I don't mean what if the hoax never happened. I mean what if the made-up GF never happened and ESPN and every other media outlet didn't run with it and cause Te'o to be the center of attention.
To me, without the publicity he never even smells the top 10 of the Heisman and is just another high-quality CFB player.
Where does everyone think he'd actually go if nothing ever happened after his grandmother died?
I say Day 2 pick at best, so anywhere from Round 2-4. He will be a solid linebacker in the pros, but he is not athletic enough to play full-time. That screams mid-round pick.

His hype was from being the Middle Linebacker on an undefeated Notre Dame team. The stories about the deaths helped, but he would have still received close to the same amount of hype anyway. All that said, I think he would have got to the combine and slipped to a late 1st round pick.

You don't think he's as good as Brian Urlacher at the same age??

Better question would be what if the NCG never happened where would he be drafted.

Did you just compare Te'o to Brian Urlacher? Wow. Urlacher is faster in the 40 than Te'o is in the 30. Urlacher was an oversized safety in college.
They're not remotely similar.

Oh god.... Probably top 5
Glad that happened because it showed how overhyped he was

da frick? Brian Urlacher was a damn athletic safety, wide receiver, and kick returner in college. Not a slow, unathletic MLB.

Maybe I'm thinking about all the hype for Te'o then.

I don't know. I assume NFL scouts know how to evaluate a player based on play rather than what happens off the field

Come on, Te'o's not that bad.

I won't kill you like I probably should but Urlacher was a specimen coming out of college.
Dude ran like a 4.55 at 260 pounds, had a vert of 34, broad jumped > 10' and repped 225 nearly 30 times. He was a monster.

Te'o received a great deal of hype since High School due to being a 5 star prospect from the state of Hawaii. The hype train might not have been as strong, but I don't think much would have changed. FWIW Khaseem Greene was the best true linebacker in college football this year, not Te'o

Pre-NCG people were talking about him as a potential 1st overall pick. He'd probably have gone in the top 15 before this.

Greene is a damn good LB, but Minter and Shazier disagree with your statement.

Yea he was like Kuechly coming out. They both absolutely shredded the combine and instantly removed the stereotypical "white guy" ideas.

I don't think this is an issue at all. He looked like a third round pick at BEST against Bama.

NOPE. He didn't just get pushed around by Bama, He got DOMINATED.

One of the reasons why I mentioned him because of him going to New Mexico and not getting offers from Major Schools coming out of HS. And he turned out to be a beast. I can remember hearing about Te'o coming out of HS.

Te'O was a media darling that has proven he does not measure up to his hype by his performance in the NCG and the combine.
He should go in the fourth round, if you see Notre Dame for the over rated team that they were last year, or higher if you buy into ESPN's love for him.
