re: If that's not a catch rule has gone too far

It never hit the ground. If he's on his back in the end zone it's a touchdown.

The ground can cause an incompletion not a fumble.
I thought so too until that happened to the Saints.

He never lost ball
My eyes say that's a TD
Rule is terrible

The ground can't cause a fumble but if it causes the ball to move a count hair , even though it never hits the ground, it's incomplete.

He did. Come on. At one point he didn't have a single hand on the ball.

If you catch the ball control it through three steps and it pops loose after you hit the ground that's an incomplete pass rather than a ground caused fumble?

A wr has to survive the ground. A ball carrier doesn't. After three steps a wr would be a ball carrier

You saw him fumble it out of his body and onto the ground ?

He regains possession out of bounds. A wr has to survive a fall to the ground and a defender.not touching the ground wasn't the issue.
1. He caught the ball and got two feet in.
2.he then goes to the ground and loses possession
3. He regains possession while out of bounds.( if he regains possession in bounds its a td because it never hit the ground)

And at one point he had both hands on the ball with both feet and a knee down.

Nope. I saw him lose possession when he went to the ground and regained it out of bounds.

Here’s why the current application of the catch rule is BS in the NFL:
-if that exact play (the chase TD play) occurs in the middle of the field at let’s say the 30 yard line, it is a catch 100% of the time because the ball never hit the ground.
-in the reality of what happened on that Chase play, he clearly possesses the ball with 2 feet in bounds. According to the NFL’s own rules which are still on the books, possession in bounds marks a player “in the field of play” to where the position of the boundary marker is irrelevant to possession of the ball. He would simply have to keep the ball from hitting the ground. had the ball popped out and away from the player upon striking the ground, it would be a different story.
However the NFL has just made up their own “Control the ball through the ground” interpretation that contradicts their own rule still on the books.

Correct, but he list possession of it and regained it out of bounds, therefore it’s an incomplete pass.

And then he has to survive going to throw ground while having possession the entire time. You can disagree with the rule but by the rule its an incompletion.

So you think endzones should be infinite? Should there be no out of bounds vertically?
