If you ever, by chance, take a glance at the NBA bylaws you will maybe change your opinion.

The guys on the radio out here are suing that any disputes between the NBA and it's owners have to go to arbitration and the arbitrators only job is to see if the NBAs decision is consistent with what is in their constitution. Apparently all of the owners agreed to this. IDK if it's true but it's what they are saying.

The NBA did what they had to do. But they know that Sterling won't allow anyone to pressure him into selling the team.
He has rights too.
He has rights too.

If the owners back Silver in this, which it appears that they have, then Sterling will lose the rights to his team for not conducting business in an "ethical" manner. I don't see how he wins.
The NBA would lose because this wasn't a business manner this was a personal manner which aren't connected. If he discriminated in his business operations then its a different story but there is no factual basis to show his operations were conducted in an unethical manner. The NBA is in a real jam here and I suspect that the lifetime ban will be repealed and overturned when Sterling sues the league.

So, we all can agree that Sterling will sue and win.
If he wins...what then? Who will coach and play for him?

The fining shouldn't stand. He already donates so much money to the Democrat party and the NAACP.

How long do you think it's going to take for this to make its way through the courts?

Current players are under contract. They can't just change teams because they don't like the owner.

Perhaps the league could counter and say that his racial comments adversely affect the league as a whole and are bad for business. Even though his comments were not business related, they became business related when they made it into the media. His players and coaches don't want to play for him, and the whole situation makes the NBA look bad during the playoffs where the league is fully in the spotlight. I'd say that the league and its owners can make a case that his unethical views are bad for business, but I don't know enough about the legal system or NBA constitution that the owners adhere to in order to make a definitive claim.
ETA: If he's allowed to keep his team and major sponsors of not just the Clippers, but the entire NBA pull out, what then? That's definitely bad for business. If Kia, Spring, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Foot Locker etc. say they don't want to be associated with a league that tolerates racist owners, they have a case that his unethical behavior affects business for the entire league.

I ask a legit question. It's a question that sports talk show hosts are wondering as well.
Why do you feel the need to stoop beneath me with personal attacks? You should elevate yourself with positive discussion rather than resort to classless behavior.

Have you seen the by laws?
Can you point me in their direction?
NBA commissioner isn't nearly as powerful as MLB

Also depends on the tapes, it is illegal to tape someone without them knowing so they couldn't stand up in a court of law right?

My thoughts are Sterling will fight to the end and let it all burn down if he has to before he sells.
Gonna be interesting.
I honestly do not see how the NBA can force a sale and it be upheld through the courts.
We will see.
