Y’all remember like last year when the wnba was everywhere and now it’s nowhere?
Nobody gives a frick about it and this is a result of their attitude the second they got a little attention

From the article:
The league’s proposal would quadruple the salaries of their best players, and the lowest paid would see a 300% raise, plus some kind of revenue sharing.
quote:
The league's latest proposal includes a $1 million base salary for players at the supermax (the previous supermax was just under $249,244 in 2025), and players at the minimum project to make at least $225,000 including revenue share (the previous minimum was $66,079 in 2025).

Owners will try to get this deal done before the stock market rebounds and hope the players settle for half

I blame ESPN for putting them on a fake pedestal. They all think they’re Caitlin Clark or Angel Reese.
Sorry, you’re really good at something no one gives a fat fiddlers phuck about… especially when a decent boys high school team could beat you.

This is fascinating to watch because it invariably puts a spotlight on the underlying economics, which are brutal for the WNBA players, and ultimately exposes the reality that no amount of virtue signaling will overcome the economics.
They will get paid.

Their television contract is negotiated by the NBA and it’s negotiated in conjunction with the NBA contract. So they’re paid a lot more than anybody would otherwise pay them because you don’t get the NBA contract unless you pay the WNBA an obscene amount out of money for their television contract.
And they still lose as you say $40 million after their most successful year ever. When the Caitlyn effect wears of and I think it is already - where does that leave them.
And the tv contract is not earned it's given, the NBA negotiates them in and pretty much blackmails advertisers forcing them to have to advertise for them to get the benefits of advertising for the NBA games.
the ignorance and unfounded arrogance is off the charts.

They should use scabs, it's not like anyone would know.

In that case how much will the players owe?

Caitlin Clark was suppose to save the WNBA. Instead, the forced attention only revealed what a shittier product the "W" truly is...

The fact that people still look at a situation like this and think progressive politics doesn't play a role is hilarious to me. Of course they will get "paid". If not they will call everyone in their path racist, sexist, homophobes, etc and god forbid that should happen. They are entitled bitches. Period. Entitled bitches destroy everything they touch. This is another solid example of that.

How dumb do you have to be to collectively negotiate player raises across the board and revenue sharing in a business that loses millions every year?
Posted on 3/15/26 at 8:46 am to SludgeFactory
Correct
And there aren’t enough people tired of it enough, yet. I do hope I live to see the revolt, though.

You're a big boy. Look it up. I only corrected the inaccurate WNBA salary and team revenues.
