First, their rule isn't stupid. Second, OU deserved it more than Texas Tech and Texas.

Yeah and look how good they did in that game, or better yet, look how good they've done in the past 4 bowl games they've been in. The problem with OU is OU. They play NO ONE during the year, i will give you the TCU and TEXAS game, and then when they finally play someone in a bowl game that is actually good, they lose. Bob stoops just can't coach games when good teams have more than 5 days to get ready for the game. And saying they deserved it more than texas is just stupid. The only tough game they played away from home was the texas game, and they lost! How anyone can put them ahead of a team they lost to is just beyond me.

They also beat Cincy, a BCS team.

Then, why don't you put TTU over Texas?

I hate the bowls. They are meaningless. The only thing that matters in the post season is who is the national champion. All the rest of this bowl crap is garbage.

I did not get that impression after LSU blew out GT this year and ND in the Sugar Bowl a couple of years ago.

if you think our players won't care if they lose to Bama, Auburn, or Florida then you are a moron. For one, if we lose those three games we won't be in any playoff. Secondly, you're crazy if you think these guys won't still have passion for the game. You ever watch High School kids play football WITH a playoff? Does it look like they don't play with passion?! I freakin hate arguments like that!

What argument like that? I made my point in the perspective of the fans, not an athlete playing on a team... Maybe you should go to my original post, and take your time reading the damn thing before you post....

WRONG! Have you ever watched the UNC-DUKE games? Tell me those don't matter. Tell me those fans don't care because it's just a 'regular season' game. Of course those games still matter, the only thing that would change is that OUR WHOLE SEASON wouldn't be completely worthless if we didn't win those games. It would make those games matter if the tournament only had 8-16 teams.

Way to pick the biggest rivalry in college basketball (UNC v. Duke) to make your point. They are the exception not the rule in a sport that really no one cares about until march

Also I would be down with an 8 team playoff, which included the winners of the big 6 conf. and 2 at large bids(play the games at the 4 original BCS bowls) but its a slippery slop and it soon could end up at a 32 team playoff.

So I would rather have no playoff and keep the integrity of the game intact

Buckeye fan,

The reason i don't put texas tech ahead of texas is because of strength of schedule. Texas had the toughest schedule of the 3. Yes OU played cincy, i'll give them that, but i thought that tech was the weaker team out of those 3, anyone that watched those teams play would probably say the same thing. So if that's the case, its just between OU and texas, then you have to take texas because they beat OU, but of course all this is just my opinion, they didn't take my advice, OU went to the big 12 championship game.

vouch4me,

Yes i did use the biggest rivalry in sports, but there are more, those schools like uconn vs pitt, get really excited and those games are fun to watch, the tennessee vs kentucky game is also a very good game to watch. The point is, we are a big-time school and that being the case, when we play big-time schools it is a BIG deal. Even if they had a playoff it wouldn't change the importance of the game. Would you really be less excited when we play alabama, florida, georgia, auburn, arkansas, etc. at home if they had a playoff? I wouldn't and i don't think anyone else at the game would either. It would still be a big-time school vs a big-time school

I'm almost positive OU did. The records of the conference teams all 3 played were the same. I believe OU had the tougher OOC schedule of the three.

The reason I don't like that is you're taking the weaker of the three and just throwing them out like they don't exist, to get to the other two. I'd prefer to just naturally take the strongest of the three, which was OU.

College football playoffs would blow the NFL playoffs away. Can you imagine the powerhouses playing in a college football playoff.

Imagine teams like OU, LSU, Texas, Soutern Cal, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Miami, FSU, FLorida, Georgia, Auburn, Nebraska, Texas A&M, in a playoff. I know some of those teams are down but just imagine if all those teams had 2 or fewer losses playing in a playoff, ratings would be sky high.

a) There is more than one game in the regular season. The OK/TX game didn't count anymore than the OK/TCU game.
b) Same record, tougher schedule.

It's quite simple. If that's beyond you, you should register for a remedial logic class.

I certainly respect this opinion (in fact, my rating system had Texas ranked #1 going into December), but head-to-head is a tie-breaker. Oklahoma and Texas were not tied in the BCS standings. Oklahoma was ahead.

it would kill recruiting for the little guys like the sunbelt.
The sunbelt and all other conferences like it should be demoted to division I-AA and then they could compete for a championship with the other teams that are on their level.
