I've never seen a foreign athlete be in this country for so damn long and act like he can't speak English and doesn't know what McDonald's is.
You have American ballplayers go to Japan and they speak Japanese within a year.
It's like he's living on some Puget Sound island and as a hermit and just reads Japan Times.

Somebody needs to tell Ichiro that Brady is a pretty good American QB that excels at picking your defense apart with short-range and mid-range missles but has been known to acheive victory by annihilating his opponent every so often with a strategically placed bomb.

Ichiro speaks English well and even speaks conversational Spanish.
He says he uses a translator because he wants every word to be completely precise, but I always assumed he just uses the translator as an excuse to get out of giving too many interviews.

Ichiro is one of the most focused human beings I've seen. Outside of baseball and his fitness routines, he probably has no interest in other sports or pop culture
