Not necissarily. Moving a mound is a pretty big task, but, whoever, moving home plate even 1 inch closer to the mound would be a very simple task to pull off, dont you think? Even that 1 inch would add a few mph to the pichera arms. Can anyone actually confirm the mounds are 60.6 inches this year?

So the mound is moved back to its original location only for Skenes’ starts?

Any reduction in velocity due to friction/drag would be negligible at those distances.

They started measuring the velocity as it leaves the pitchers hand rather than closer to home plate a few years ago. It resulted in slightly higher velocity readings but not enough to cause such high velocity the last couple of years. Also, most starters only go 5-6 innings these days so can push themselves a little harder velocity wise.

Well seeing that the foul lines are drawn from the point of plate, if you move the plate, then the lines wont line up EXACTLY with the outside edges of first and third base, so yea... it would be obvious.

Of course you could also move the bases a little closer together... but then the line wouldn't line up with the foul poles. So you'd have to move the poles in a bit. which would require some construction to be done at some stadiums.

So yea, it wouldn't be a simple task.

Honest question... you can't REALLY be this dumb right? As someone who I assume watches baseball enough to opine on this subject, I have to assume that you KNOW the things you're insinuating are not easily done, and that velocity is not related to the distance of the mound. So I have to assume this is a troll.
