I mean realistically what allegiance do people in LA have to the rams or the chargers? What are the expectations we should have for that fan base? I don’t see why we expect them to be some rabid fan base. People in Cali just don’t care about football generally so unless you have the long time fans you aren’t going to draw

Ask me how I can tell that you never went to a Raiders - Chargers game in San Diego.

Even before the games, I'd see tons of shite talking and knuckle checking between groups of guys wearing Chargers and Raiders hats...while wearing Mexican soccer kits for Club America, Pumas and Xolos. .

When their shite contracts come back to bite them, there won't be a soul in that new Stadium, as they go back to seasons of 3-13, 2-14, 5-11.

LA, for its size, is an unimpressive sports town.

Not really, look at the dodgers and lakers. Dodgers have led mlb in attendance for years.

Jeff Fisher’s first (and only) season in LA as the rams coach did irreparable damage. Early games were sold out as casual fans came hoping to embrace their new home team.

What they found was a bad and very boring team playing in an awful venue. Despite the last 2 seasons, rams haven’t fully recovered from that. They’ll need to win a super bowl if they want things to change next season.

All that said, the new stadium in Inglewood will infuse new energy and hit the reset button in a few years.

There was real excitement that first year. Rams put out a horrible product and killed off most of the casual fans who wanted to give them a chance. Going to take a while to build that back up.

Rams are trending upward as the crowds have been better.

New stadium will definitely make a huge difference. Will be the Rams home, not just playing in USC’s stadium

I think people forget that the Rams had little support in St Louis.

Rams are not a team with a huge national fan base. Have been horrible for almost 30 years aside from the 3-4 with Kurt Warner. Going to take time to build the fan base back up.

I still think the Chargers move back to SD eventually

Agreed. The Rams are at least slowly building up a fan base in LA. Chargers are non-existent

Not true. While the lakers are indeed the most popular, the dodgers aren’t far behind.

The gap between the dodgers and the third most popular (depends on who’s winning at the time, but has long been usc football) team is greater between the gap between the lakers and dodgers.

The Raiders and 49ers fanbases would disagree.
The Cowboys are Mexico's team, not the Raiders and 9ers

Yeah, because other cities like New York, Boston, Chicago, Seattle, and Denver are really lacking in things to do.

There’s a small amount of truth to the “better things to do” theory.

Look at the weather in these areas during football season- it’s generally bad. Fans will either stay home and watch a game (this helps buildup a following) in the northeast or the rabid ones will tough it out at the stadium. LA was 75 and sunny yesterday. There are better options (outdoors and otherwise) than going to the coliseum to watch a football game. People aren’t sitting at home and watching the rams, either. Tough to buildup the fan base if the exposure isn’t there.

Again, casual LA fans gave the rams a chance in the first season and didn’t even make it til the end of the season because the product was so bad.

because they play in a 56,000 seat stadium. they don't sell out nearly as many games as some teams in smaller venues and are notorious for having 3rd to 7th inning crowds

No team sells out every game though. Their capacity % is slightly behind the Yankees but they outdrew them by 10% overall.

The 3rd to 7th inning fan is legit, but is a byproduct of la traffic and not having any type of public transportation to the stadium.

Lakers are also known fir having a late arriving/early leaving crowd. That’s basically an LA thing due to traffic

Don’t see how the chargers will make it in LA. Also, can’t see the NFL moving them out of California and leave the state with only 2 teams. San Diego state new stadium is their only hope.
