I barely watch NBA, but I gather he’s a great scorer who plays minimal defense. (I don’t even know if I spelled his name right.)

But it kind of seems - just from reading this board - that his support is kind of a troll job in many cases. Like he’s not a complete player, doesn’t elevate his team, and will never win anything, so Saying he’s great is like subversive or something.

Am I reading this right?

Houston fans say he is the MVP bar none, yet can’t get his team to the finals.

Dirk carried the Mavs to not only a finals appearance but a ship against LeGOAT. Harden can’t wipe prime Dirk’s arse.

He actually grades out as “above average” defender. But haters gonna hate.

By the espn analytics guru Ben alamar. But thanks for playing.

Once you account for the fact that Harden defends as many pick-and-rolls as he does drives and post-ups combined, Harden is a solid B defender this season. That's a slight increase from last season -- and significantly better than the memes suggest. He is far from a lockdown defender, but Harden is above average,

He is the best offensive player in the league. He averages (by far) the most points per game (36.3 ppg. Behind him is Anthony Davis with 29.5 ppg). He’s also 4th in the league in assists per game (8.3). He’s a complete offensive player. His overall defense is average. His post defense is very good.

He does elevate his team. He’s never missed the playoffs in his career, and has gone as far as 1 win shy of making the NBA Finals. He also played in the Finals with OKC but wasn’t the star player there early in his career.

A lot of fans of other teams on his board hate him as a player, and will talk endless crap. And because this is an LSU website, there are way more Pelicans fans who hate on him than there are Rockets fans who support him.

Boomshockalocka likes to troll all of the other posters and because of that, his support may seem tongue in cheek when he says things just to piss Harden’s haters off.

Long time NBA fan here, Harden is playing at a level offensively few thought possible. Just super elite. He's been basically unguardable all season.

I agree with most of Prime Time Money’s post. This board has a strong Rockets vs Pelicans rivalry which is odd because that isn’t a rivalry anywhere else.

Harden is a guy that a lot of neutrals hate due to his playing style. He initiates a ton of contact and embellishes on contact from others. He leads the league in free throw attempts. His fans will say drawing fouls is an art. His haters will see he is saved by refs more than anyone. It’s not just Pels fans. Honestly the defense angle isn’t even discussed much anymore. And yes, he is on an unbelievable tear the past 2 months or so. It’s up there with the best 25 or so games jna row of any player in the modern era.

However this whole Pels-Rockets rivalry on the MSB is definitely growing in large part to Boom’s posts. I remember when he was just a normal poster but these days, his primary goal is to wind up Pelicans fans. This includes over-the-top praise of average Rockets and referring to everyone on the team by first name, as if they are IRL friends.

His defensive metrics have fallen off vs last year, though. The Rockets were a very solid defensive unit last year and that inflated his D a bit. He's average this year, and rises and falls with his team's strength.

Harden is a great player. I think any objective fan would recognize that.

It is fun to tease Harden lovers on here because he might have the most emotionally devoted fan base of any player.

The real knock on Harden is his postseason performances have always been worse than his regular season. He is elite in the regular season and does produce around MVP level. In the postseason, he's good, but not the elite guy we see in the regular season.

Guys like Boom push him as historically great. I'll never see him like that until his postseason has the same quality his regular seasons do.

This year is his lowest fg %, since joining the Rockets and his points ppg is the highest. The flopping fouls are not fun to watch and should be out of the game. He basically is playing soccer on the court.
