How much credit do NBA big-man gurus deserve?

for the past half decade, wings and bigs alike seek out legendary centers in the offseason or at time an organization brings one in to work with player or group of players.Hakeem is the biggest profile coach among these
Notable players:
LeBron
Kobe
Howard
Amar'e
Tyson Chandler
Carmelo
JaVale McGee
Yao
Kareem has a much smaller sample size but his guys include:
Bynum
Howard
Noah
DeAndre Jordan
Blake
Guys like McHale,Cartwright Ewing and Kiki have either coached or been in the front office.
Have you seen a noticable difference in these guys?
Obviously LeBron is killing it in the post nowadays-but he and Kobe are all time greats. With Bynum (previously) I think you saw long term benefits of Kareem, especially last year. Noah seems to be a better player-but is reaching his prime right now anyway( coincidentally shooting a much lower hook shot %).
Point being, is the perception greater than reality with the big-man guru? Are the best players simply going to be better or will we ever see a case of taking an underachieving player with massive potential and that player becomes transformed into an All-NBAer after working with a guru?
Who else would you like to see be a big man coach?
I've heard Shaq speak of a "big man camp", has that actually happened?

wow, I thought this would have generated at least a response from SFP.

Hakeem spends like 1 week with a guy.
I don't think that is enough time.

True, but there have been some instances of longer period. How much time is "enough"?
Are you saying the media and fans make too big a deal of these trips?

I think the thing these guys teach that's probably the most valuable is how to practice these post moves. It would take them a while really teach it to them but if they're instructed on what to work on and things like that, it would seem beneficial.

Too much NFL stuff going on brah.

The perception is greater than the reality. The majority of credit goes to the players themselves and the team coaches who work with them. A couple days working with a guy isn't going to make that drastic a difference.
I'm pretty sure LeBron even said he and Hakeem spent most of their time talking about life and family.

i honestly don't know what kind of insight these guys give...at least individual insights
KAJ and Ewing also coached in the NBA (basically bynum and howard's personal coaches)
they have had these guys for forever though. the pete newell big man camp is a big one

I like to think that a guy like Kareem is more about the mental approach to dominating. Kareem might be underrated as bigs coach. Has Noah actually gotten better or is this just an illusion?
