And it's why those dumbasses are broke before they turn 40.
Exactly.
Guy earlier said he needs a new financial advisor if he can't swing that kind of bill. If someone spends $15k on a meal it's likely he doesn't really utilize his financial advisor in the first place, becuase none of them would ever advise this frivilous use of money.

Why do you keep insinuating that this was the bill for ONE meal? Everything else seems to indicate that this was a planned trip, with booked rooms, with booked shows, and with booked travel.
I agree that the one meal thing would be absurd, but I've spent a ton of money to go a hellacious trip.

But footing a $15,000 Vegas strip club binge? Other extortion methods? That is too far, and I bet if it actually came to it, none of you would be OK with that either.
Totally false. Read up on the reports please.

If I had agreed to be a part of this Vegas trip, and I, without legitimate reason, reneged without a just cause after all the arrangements and bookings were made, damn straight would I still put in my 15K if I had an NFL salary.

Guess I'm getting this confused with the many cases I hear of players having to foot a bill for $30k for one night like Dez Bryant did a couple of years back.
And why didn't they get his money upfront if everything was already booked?

Something doesn't make sense.... a pre paid vegas trip for 15k? Hotel and flight are prepaid, and both of those are refundable with prior notice. The shite that's expensive in vegas, bottle service, strip clubs and restaurants isnt prepaid. This whole story comes from a guy that was incognitos teammate at Nebraska and miami, I'm not buying it

how much does a private jet flight cost from Miami to vegas? You refundable point is mute since the rest of the o line went on the trip.

Given the fact that most players end up broke after their career ends, $15,000 is a lot of money.

If it was one time and I was making half a mill a year? I'd be perfectly OK with it. Especially considering that I know next year I'll be on the receiving end.

Its my money and I can do what I want with it. If I was a 21 year old rookie who just received his first check. Ya damn right im a blow it. Nobody is holding a gun to these guys and say give me your paycheck. If you dont want to participate, then dont. You will get some looks and theyll talk about you but thats it because at the end of the day you still have a hob that you are getting paid good money to do.

These guys have the dough. Don't be cheap, everyone goes through it
this is the mind-set that leads to these guys being broke within two years of retirement.
if you have worked all your life to get a job that will last a very limited time... you absolutely do not have the money to waste. you need to save every fricking dime you can to last the rest of your lifetime... because most of these guys do not have a proper college education and most of these guys are not going to find easy employment after they leave the game.

It's fine. Herm Edwards explained on ESPN it's usually a one-time deal. And he also said it's usually adjusted depending on your paycheck/round you were drafted in. Blah blah blah they won't make that their entire lives but even the lowliest of rookies should be able to save a $250,000 over a few years unless they're wasting money on their own. Assuming they're out of the league when they're 26ish (if things don't work out) that's still a considerable sum of money to start your life with also taking into account these guys got full tuition. Whether or not they actually made good on their educations and have a plan for after football (or in case football didn't work out) is another story.

Then you are a complete idiot if you can't make a million fricking dollars last you your whole life.
Your post was dumb as frick. And you should feel bad.

After taxes, that means about a million dollars in take home salary.
That won't last you your whole life.
You're not very good at managing your finances are you?
