Matt Ryan currently holds the following NFL records:

Fastest player to pass for 40,000 yards (151 games)

Most passing yards in first 10 years in NFL history (41,796)

Personally, I think Ryan breaks the career yardage records before he retires. Enjoy it while you can Saints fans.

Ryan has a had a nice career but I'm not sure his body will hold up into his late thirties the way Brees' has.

Don't forget his record that no one will probably ever break.

How long before you stop making sad threads and accept Brees is the GOAT?

You say that as your QB was just destroyed by Pittsburgh on sunday, concerning enough that he went to get xrays done afterwards.

Through 158 games, ryan passed for 41796 yards - age 32
Through 153 games, brees passed for 40742 yards - age 32

Before this year started, Brees had played in 95 games over 6 seasons. Passed for 29703 yards averaging 4950 yard per season in that span. This year, he's on pace for 5305 yards. Assuming he retires after the 2019 season, you're possibly looking at 80,000 passing yards.

Ryan finishes this year on his current pace, he'd need 33k more yards. At a pace of 4700 yards per year, he'd still need 7 more years. That's not as easy as it sounds.

And this is not taking into account that Brees is still piling on the numbers.

So to answer your question, never.

Remember when Matt Ryan and the Falcons came out with that really hot start in the Super Bowl?

And that's if Brees quits today.

Brees is still playing. Ryan would have to put up consecutive 5,000yd seasons until he's in his 40s to come close. Hasn't eclipsed 5,000 in a season yet and I doubt he is playing anywhere near Brees' level in 5 or 6 years. Ain't gonna happen.

Ryan has started 163 games in his career.

Here is how he compares to Brees through Brees' first 163 starts:

...........CMP%...YARDS....TD....RATE
Ryan.....65.0......43,397....271....94.0
Brees....65.7......43,587....308....94.4

Their age when they started their 163rd game:

Ryan - 33.143
Brees - 33.308

Times leading the league in passing yards to that point:

Ryan - 0
Brees - 3

He is already behind Drew's pace.

Not looking good for Matt

Honestly, he probably doesn’t unless he plays into his 40s.
