I would say if a team is in rebuild mode they should be graded on if there moves will make then better over the next 2-3 years.

If the team is in win now mode they should e graded on if the team will be better next year and contend forthe SuperBowl after the moves.

If the Saints struggle this year at those positions because they did not address their biggest needs, then one could argue it was not a great draft.

So your proving again that you cant grade a teams draft till you see anyone play. And if the saints didnt have any lbs they thought were going to be good should they have taken one just to fill a "need"?

right. But we can still give them a "grade" until we see them play.

The problem I had was they could have gotten good value on taking Washington at the end of round 1 or possibly trading back. If all the prospects at need positions would have been total reaches it would have Bern understandable, but they weren't. It just seems we were getting greedy by selecting guys that were looking at back up roles in the future instead of talented guys who could compete for a starting position next year.

I think all the picks are solid players, but they probably won't help in a run at the Super Bowl next year.

You mean give them a grade before you see them play? And if so you can, but the criteria is stupid if your moving it for teams etc..

What didnt you understand? Should the Saints take a lb that they dont think will pan out just to fill what you determine is a "need"

not if they "think they won't pan out." The Saints obviously went with value/upside over need, so we'll see how they play at S and LB, especially if their 1st two picks are on the bench.

this. Mays/Kindle (providing he will be healthy) could have greatly improved LB this year. Our first two draft picks won't see the field this year.

S will be fine they have Malcolm Jenkins and if they don't like what they see from him Sharper is just sitting around.

First, when did safety become a need? Sharper will be back and they can move Jenkins over and Chip Vaughn will be back, theres depth there and no safety really but Mays available when they pick.

If your waiting to see how LB plays this year than whats the point of talking about it now?

What if the guys the Saints drafted all play and play great, but Lb's only play ok. Was it a bad draft?

If Sharper doesn't come back, who plays S?

How will they play great if they never see the field?

He's 4th on the depth chart. Unless he blows the team away this off-season, he will contribute on special teams.

Robinson will be the Nickelback or dimeback.

Which would make him a nickel or dime back. And considering Greer and Porters injury history it will make it very possible he'll "see the field"

He will be a backup. He won't start over Porter or Greer. If we resign Sharper I doubt he plays much at all.

Picking Jenkins last year was a good pick because we didn't know what we really had at CB or FS. Robinson is pure depth at the moment. It is kind of a luxury I think a team would pass on with the uncertainty at OLB.
