quote:As said, well put. You certainly have the gift of articulation.
Because no matter what people say, white skill players are undervalued because of a subliminal bias. The patriots have been able to cut through the bull shite and just draft the player

In their offensive system they don't need players with highly pitched talents. Their WRs predominately run option routes so it's more about knowing what route to run when the defense gives a particular look. Of course when they get that highly talented WR that has high football IQ (Moss), the results are even better.
Urban Meyer and Dan Mullen were influential on the offense Patriots run.
The Patriots wanted to learn. “I think what intrigued the Patriots,” Mullen said, “was the definition of the spread for us.”
The answer “was one-on-one matchups, getting to get the defense to declare itself,” said Mullen, now the head coach at Mississippi State. “Once you get the defense to declare as man before the play even happens, for the QB it’s easy.” They can then easily diagnose the coverage and figure where the ball should go.
“The thing about option routes is if I have to coach you on it, you’re not the guy,” Mullen said. “People say, ‘Oh, Wes Welker, great on option routes.’ Well, that’s true. He’s quick, but that’s not why he’s great on option routes. It’s because he and Tom Brady were on the same page, he knew how to take a linebacker, fake one way, set up the fake, then pivot outside.”
“It was something fun to see on TV,” Mullen said. “You’d see a play, or see them create a matchup that we talked about—and they took it to another level.”

It seems like a lot of the guys they take were really productive college players (Carr is like Northwestern's all time receiving leader) but don't necessarily have the measureables. When you play with Brady you just have to be in the right spot and catch the ball, he'll get it to you even if you aren't 6'3 or have blazing speed.

They also got two more this year, the Hollister twins as UDFA. Jacob played TE at Wyoming and looked like a stud in the preseason game yesterday (along with Carr). His twin Cody is a WR that played at Arkansas, but I don't think he got in the game.
Austin Carr had 5 catches on 7 targets for 44 yards
Jacob Hollister the TE had 7 catches on 9 targets for 116 yards and just looked damn good. Hurdles a defender on one play

Bill.
Its only a few guys, total .
So maybe two or three more than you would expect randomly.
Bill is feeding brady.

Hunter Renfrow up in next years draft. Prime Patriots material.

Bill also values intelligence, work ethic, and leadership abilities FAR more than other teams. I heard a stat a couple years ago that NE has more college graduates and more former college team captains on its roster than any other team by a mile.
I hadn't heard this before, but comes as no surprise. The Pats are always of sound discipline and seem to have a veteran mindset, even with all the turnover in players and coaches sans Belichick/Brady over the last 15 years.

IMO, they invest in their lines first, and view every other position as secondary, minus Brady.
You must have missed 2011-2014. Those lines were BRUTAL.

The Patriots passing offense, especially the underneath stuff, doesn't depend on pure speed. If you're looking for measurables on these guys, check out their three cone times. Edelman's was disgusting if I remember correctly.

That's one of the reasons Dak was able to transition to the NFL so quickly. Mullen had spent 5 years teaching Dak to read defenses and run a similar offense as the Patriot except with shitty linemen and skilled position players

Yeah I saw where he got hurt a few weeks ago. Figured he might be able to make an impact on special teams but doubt he lasts very long now.
