Majority of them come from wealthy parents who basically do all of their funding. It’s basically a rich people’s club.

B.S. about Mondo "making money" here in the U.S. as a track athlete. Both his parents were vaulters, his dad here & his mother, a Swede with dual citizenship. Safe to assume they know the business side of Olympians, here & in Europe. As a child through college Mondo would spend each summer with his grandparents in Sweden. While not vaulting "professionally" he was well known in vaulting circles early in his career. There is no way that he would have earned a million dollars in his first year, millions more ongoing, as a "track athlete" here. He & his dad both said the main issue in where he competed was with the U.S.O.C. & its regulations. Many U.S, athletes have been complaining about the U.S.O.C's regulations, for decades.

Is there money to support these random sports between Olympic times? Or do some of them have regular jobs?
The Olympian that is from our town has a contract with a shoe company that pays her pretty good.

Why do you think the best Pole Vaulter in the history, born and raised in Louisiana, represents Sweden.
Because Sweden doesn’t host an Olympic trial event but rather takes your best jump of the year to qualify you, I believe.

Just looked it up and apparently it’s a host of things:
Paid a salary by the Swedish national track team
Offered dad a coaching role on team
Older brother already competes on the team
Now open to compete in the European games
More track tournaments in Europe that actually pay

Norway dominates the Winter Olympics because the events are literally just daily life in Norway
