A real mercenary would bail on the CFP. Gotta protect that draft stock.

Fvcking A, all about the Benjamin’s just like the school presidents, their boards, the alumni, and especially the nfl owners, can’t let nothing interfere with the real game baw.

They would sell their daughters to sex slavers for a fing dollar.

Like I said before, it's all a business for players and coaches. They will do what's best for their interests when the time comes. Even the schools treat it as a business. They invest in these players and coaches hoping for a big return. The fans are the ones left with the bill. There's no loyalty in business. The sooner you realize it, the less outrage you will have.

Stop chasing the 4/5 star recruits that p5 fans claim that they " develop " ? The kids would be fine and so would p5 Universities.

Nothing ever happens until it happens. Someone has to be the first. We’ve gone from seeing players opt out of bowl games to opting out of seasons.

They're going to find out fans don't have to be loyal either.

If you're gonna opt out for the biggest game of the year, why even play in the others?

I think it depends on the situation. If I was a highly draft eligible player on Cincinnati’s football team, I may skip knowing that Alabama is going to beat the living dog shite out of us in the first game.

But if you’re on a team that has a legitimate shot to win the whole thing, I don’t see why you would skip.

The only reason that popped into my head is maybe if you already have a national championship ring from the previous season you might save yourself “well I already have one of these anyway. “

You will see it soon, uusually it will be disguised as injury related.

I suspect Jobe(bama) is an opt out this year for the playoffs.

A player can greatly increase his stock his final year. Two games a month after the season has ended is unnecessary for a player already locked in for high draft spot.

The excuse I see used here most often is, why play a meaningless bowl game and risk injury. Using that same logic, why play playoff and risk injury.

I alluded to this in another thread.

Example: if you are a star QB at Ohio State, there’s no reason to play against non-conf schools like Kent State and the like. No need to play against Rutgers, Maryland, Illinois, Indiana, and probably a few others. If you ball out against Michigan, MSU, Penn State, and Wisky, stop playing and call it a season.

Exactly, just like we are talking now about meaningless bowl games. Once expansion happens we will be hearing about "meaningless" playoff games.

So what? What did major endorsements or national championships mean for the #1 player who just checked into Jackson State? Nothing.

What does he mean to me as a BAMA fan? Nothing. It all balances out.
