I don't think a 30 second shot clock would take away the different styles of play. I DO NOT want to see a 24 second shot clock though.

As for the one-and-done rule, just eliminate it. It hurts to have talents like Jabari Parker and Jahlil Okafor and know that they're only in Durham because it was either that or Europe/China. If you change it to the baseball rule than Calipari is gonna have those guys for 3 years.

why the hell was he a top 5 pick?

talent/projection

quote:

They rely on the pipeline of college talent, and they currently have a system that spits out Alex Len as one of the best players. That's a horrifyingly poor talent base.

if you only look at "talent" as what the player is at 18-19 and not 22-23

just look at what NBA development has done to len. if he stayed at maryland he'd still be fighting for a starting spot and not getting developed, and his development would be permanently stunted. that's not good for len and it doesn't affect maryland, really (as they had a better college player in place)

quote:

Players not good enough to go straight from high school, should then spend more than a year honing their skills.

CBB will be seen as a pariah and a place for inferior talent, so i doubt mid-grade talent will want to go to college

NBA development > CBB development, especially if the NBA is your goal. it's not like guys don't "hone their skills" if they're not starting in the NBA. they still get more coaching than if they were in college (due to the 20 hour rule), and it's coaching for the NBA game.

quote:

If you removed one and done players entirely and have them go straight to the NBA,

this would hurt the NBA from the current 1/done framework b/c the main reason the rule was instituted was due to marketability and not development. this gets the NBA players that the fans can know about before the draft, which helps giving the players a face. the NBA loves the 1/done but 3 years is way too much.

Kentucky finally keeping a couple of players for an extra year, while adding a talented class, shows how close the game is to having some real exciting dominant teams. That's all the sport needs. Continuity.

The NBA zone rule is awesome. It would actually help us scout NBA bigs and it would open up the offenses
