To be fair, I think Josh Hamilton’s 28 in round 1 when it was a 10-out format is easily the most impressive feat in an HRD

It was until last night. Did Alonso even get 10 outs the entire derby?

No, he would have beat Hamilton regardless of the format

Yes, but since he could keep swinging away it doesn't really matter.

I’ve noticed you’re a universally disliked person on this board so I’m gonna ignore you and your bad takes

Pete Alonso was amazing last night; I thought he would win because he's built for the derby. Ohtani had a crappy pitcher, but there's nothing you can do if Alonso is hitting 30 dingers per round.

Alonso's pitcher was putting it in damn near the same spot, same speed every time.

Without looking like he was tiring at all

It almost seemed like Ohtani was just hitting like usual instead of hitting for the derby like Pete, he found his sweet but a little too late.

I will say that I have to LOL at Pete Alonso saying that he's the best power hitter on the planet. He's confident for sure, but he's hitting .250/.328/.478 this year (career is .252/.344/.539). Not terrible, but it doesn't scream "best power hitter on the planet". Even Judge is slashing better than that. His pitcher was amazing too (unlike Ohtani's). But he might have hit 100 if he went first.

Yeah I agree with you, I don’t think he’s the best power hitter on the planet either

Way easier to just hack away than it is to have to make a decision whether to swing or not and then to make it a good swing. Pressure way higher in the 10-out scenario

Hamilton's was so impressive because of how far he was hitting the baseballs.
