Fast ball, change...he has pretty good control but needs more junk.

I don't think it works great with metal bats though.

It gets on the hands b/c of the late movement. Aluminum or wooden bats really don't matter anymore.

Yeah I understand your feeling. Since he is not overpowering, a nice mix of pitches will help him be more effective.

So you're one of those dads. How about letting his coach, coach and you not question what he is doing. If you want to coach, then apply for his job but until you get it STFU. Unless you don't actually interfere with him coaching andjust came here to cry about it. In that case your not a complete a-hole, just a complete pussy.

I have watched this theory for several years and when you "just throw strike" to a team that can hit, you get shelled.

Not referring to anyone in this thread, but a lot of people don't understand this as kids get to be older. Movement on a pitch is far more important than speed IMO. He should still listen to the coach tho.

I guess I can be a complete a-hole or I have been doing this shite for 22 yrs and know a little it about the game. Maybe in a few years you can coach some T-ball.

Agreed, once they get to where they can hit, if all you have is a mediocre fastball it's BP for the other team.

I would say you are being a complete a-hole then. Anyone who under minds their kids coach can DIAF. How about talking to the coach or offering to help him out instead of under minding him behind his back and giving your kid the idea that its OK not to listen to his coach.

Doing what? Coaching rec league doesn't automatically make you better than the high school coach.

I am not undermining the coach. Kid may throw 1-2 cutters a game. I am not calling pitches. Actually, I do help the coach. I was just asking the TD opinion. Trust me, I am not coaching from my chair. I would never tell him not to listen to his coach. I think I will talk to coach and see what he thinks.

Yeah coaching rec ball, but helping the HS coaches since 2001. I have seen a lot with 3 sons. The coach is young, (bout 28) and I have seen much more baseball than him so maybe, just maybe I have a few ideas that might work. I am not saying I am better than the coach, just saying the cutter might just work...never know unless you try it.

And how might you be helping them? If you're helping this particular coach why don't you mention it to him.

I never said you didn't. I'm saying to let the coach make the decisions or ask him about it instead of going behind his back.

I help with the hitters. I am not going behind his back, I was just asking the opinion of the TD, not try to start any shite, just asking. Take a deep breath..hmmmm

Velo is really the most important, if you're trying to make it to the next level. It's really not even close.

Sure, velocity will get you noticed faster, but there have been a lot of fast guys without control.

Calm down, bro. You sound like a shitty coach yourself. He's not "under minding" anything.
