In Seattle's system, Wilson is about as good of a QB you can ask for.

And thats exactly what I am saying. The guy isnt great, but he is doing exactly what Seattle needs to be a great team and hes doing it cheap. Hes very good, but he isnt great.

Well he did step up bit in crunch time.

Of course he did, but without a lucky onside kick bounce and Clinton Dix having a total meltdown on a hail mary of a two point conversion, there is no crunch time.

This is the key quote here. And it shows up in every Russell Wilson thread ever.

I just think it further proves that in regards to the way Seattle plays the game, its all about the team not about the QB. Which in reality, is a great thing.

He makes the plays when they are needed, which is what Brady did early in his career with the Pats. Russell had a bad game yesterday but then he was able to rebound and put some drives together when they needed him the most. He did not melt down like some quarterbacks tend to do.

He's the perfect QB for the Seahawks. In regards to how well he plays in his role, he's a top 5 QB in the NFL.

Remove the lousy game he had yesterday and the numbers are great. I'd ask the OP to name the games that Wilson's less than stellar play was a key factor, not the key factor, just a key factor in Seattle losing.

Even in yesterday's game he was near perfect in his execution and decision making when he had to be at the end of the game and in overtime.

The dude has too good of record in the playoffs to call him anything other than a great QB at this point. Personally, I think he takes a hard dive if he asks for top QB in the league money, but who knows, he might be even better if he has to be the guy on his team. No evidence saying he can't be more over the long haul, but luckily we will get to see really soon. Basically, Russell Wilson is who Les Miles pictures when he masturbates. He's a game managing style QB, but he might be the best ever as that style of QB.

He is this generation's Troy Aikman. Overrated by supporters. Underrated by detractors.

Holy hell. I've never understood the Wilson hate and idea that he's "phony."

All very good quarterbacks play a big role for their team.

I agree that he is as important for that offense as that offense is for him.

He's a top 8-ish quarterback in the league. He was not top 5 this season.

Agreed. He needs some help at the WR position badly.

He did finish as fantasy's #3 QB.... couple that with the fact he is in the super bowl and it's hard for me agree with you.

Rodgers
Brady
Peyton

All had better years than Wilson.
