We are all morons at times

Simply put. You can have as many as you want on the line

I truly don’t know how Kirk was confused. Goal line sneaks often have everyone on the line

I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

I believe the rule focuses on how many players can be in the backfield , it does NOT look at how many players can be on the line. Four maximum for backfield, NOT seven maximum for offensive line.

um, he's saying the same thing you are saying.
Herbie was the one saying you couldn't have more than 7 on the line. which of course is incorrect.

No, I'm saying that you can have more than 7 players on the line, but you can't have more than 4 players in the backfield.

frick you, dumbass.

There is no requirement that there be 7 on the LOS and hasn't been for years. Just because you can't have more than 4 in the backfield doesn't mean you are required to have 7 on the LOS. If the offense has 10 on the field, they can have 4 in the backfield and have only 6 on the LOS and still be legal. That's the reason the rule was changed.

Before calling anyone a moron, you should really make sure you're right, dickbreath.

THERE IS A REQUIRMENT YOU CAN'T HAVE 5 MEN IN THE BACKFIELD. THAT IS OFF LINE.

LET ME DO MATH FOR YOU

Illegal =11-5 = 6

Legal = 11-4= ???

You can have 10,9,8,7 on the line but you can't only have 6. It's a fricking penalty if you do.

The rule is no more than 4 in the backfield. There is no rule rule for maximum/minimum people.

Having 10 people on the field is not against the rules. Therefore, 10 men on the field 4 could be in the backfield with only 6 on the line and the formation would be legal.

Please link the penalty.

This thread demonstrates that football has too many rules and is over regulated.

Herbie is great at his job and got confused about the rule.

Someone started a thread about it and it is full of people yelling at each other about which rules are and are not correct.

Your reading comprehension is piss poor.

I explained to you how it's possible but you're obviously too stupid to comprehend what I said.

Here is a link to the rule book. Please tell us what page states that there must be seven on the line scrimmage. Thanks in advance.

That's a fricking retarded arse statement. Yes I guess you can have 1 person snapping and 1 person at QB and still play.

You are correct. Jesus I'm SO DUMB

You have to have 7 on the line of scrimmage if you are playing normal fricking football and have 11 players on the field. Saying that you can have 6 if a player forgets to run out on the field is a dumb argument but yes you're correct you can play football with one person on the field.

Apparently you really are that stupid. There is no rule that a team must have seven players on the LOS and I would challenge you to prove otherwise.

If you have 11 men on the field, you can't have more than 4 in the backfield meaning you have to have 7 on the los. this isn't rocket surgery. The rule doesn't explicitly state you MUST have 7 on the line but if you have 11 on the field then you have must have 7. We are arguing back and forth about the verbiage of the rule.
