Did you seriously just say Barry Bonds isn't close to being one of the greatest hitters of all time. It's shite like this that made me lurk for about 5 years before I finally signed up. You think to yourself, people can't really be this stupid.

He was a 3 time MVP, the only 400-400 guy, one of the only people with 40-40 HR/SBs.. and that's without being able to finish out his career..

Oh and he was still hitting 40 hrs a year before he started juicing.. Soooo he still becomes a 600 HR guy.

I wouldn't bother arguing with this guy; I've never seen someone whose idiocy spans so many different topics.

He only won 3 MVPs before he started steroids if we assume (which is fairly widely believed) that he started in 1999.

I could go through more stats, but I am sure you will just use the classic emoticon when you have no good answer.

Go look at some of his numbers on baseballreference.com. They are truly mindblowing.

That really does not bother me. I think it is fair to accurately judge different eras. It is not fair to penalize those prior guys playing Jackie Robinson, but, at the same time, you cannot punish Bonds for taking steroids when there was virtually no consequence at the time.

Oh I completely agree with you. I was merely pointing out the inconsistencies in his ridiculously silly and naive argument.

You have no clue what you are talking about. BB has 7 MVPs. They don't give those out for sucking. BBond's 01-04 seasons are arguably the best 4 year stretch of any hitter in history.

Didn't Ruth rountinely play games drunk or buzzed? Maybe it's just an urban legend, admittedly, I'm not a huge baseball fan.

I thought it was pretty well known he was a dirtball. It wouldn't surprise me.

I love the new Tosh standup when he is talking about Bonds having an asterik and not Babe Ruth. Breaking record before Blacks could play. He said the fatboy( Ruth) woulda put the cigar and beer down if he had CC Sibathie(sp) throwing 92 mph sliders.

just so we're clear- if we take steroids out of the equation here, Barry's prime was SO MUCH BETTER than these guys as to make this conversation comical.

If you put everything on an even surface, he was the best hitter of all time and it hardly merits a discussion.

You do realize that it's real easy to all of a sudden become nicer when you're facing jail time, right?

I have nothing to say. Especially since Vick skull fricked you in this "argument."

BB is a top 3 hitter of all-time, very possibly #1. It really is hard to argue that he isn't.

unless you consider 'jock sniffers' as an acceptable argument.

BTW, what in the frick does that mean in a discussion like this?

LOL ! First of all, Babe Ruth was a Pitcher for the first 7 YEARS of his career. He held the record for scoreless innings pitched in world series play until the 90's. He had a 346 lifetime batting average. Barry Bonds couldn't hold Babe Ruth's jock ! IF he was so great, WTF did he have to CHEAT ! LOL, He will NEVER see the Hall of fame ! FACT !

I meant disregarding steroids- just like how we're 'disregarding' the fact that Ruth never had black competition.

If you didn't understand that, sorry.
