There is actually a rule on being allowed to have position players to pitch and required run differential? You can’t just put anyone out there? I guess so you don’t have actual pitchers on your roster as Utility players?

quote:

Prior to the 2020 season, a rule was agreed upon -- but not yet enacted -- preventing position players from pitching except in the following scenarios:

• They are designated as a "Two-Way Player." A player can only qualify for this designation if he accrues at least 20 Major League innings pitched and at least 20 Major League games started as a position player or designated hitter (with at least three plate appearances in each of those games) in the current or prior season.
• A game goes into extra innings.
• A player's team is losing or winning by more than six runs when he enters as a pitcher.

quote:

The aforementioned two-player rule, whereby all players qualify as a hitter, a pitcher, or a two-way player, was placed on hold for 2021. As a result, there are no rules limiting when a position player may pitch in 2021.

That rule is horseshite. Seems like a solution in search of a problem.

That wouldn’t make sense to me. Seems like it would be an opportunity to raise your batting average or slugging or obp.
