Another thing that solidifies Nicklaus up there and I don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but he finished 2nd at majors 19 times.

Another reason I rate Watson a bit higher is 3 of his majors he had to beat Nicklaus down the stretch and in all 3 of those Jack played very well, Watson had to go up another level to win those.

One glaring omission (Bobby Jones) and Gary Player at 11 is WAY too low. The rest of the list is pretty reasonable. I have:
Yeah, I left Jones out simply because he was never a tour pro. He was an all time great, but not sure how to align him with the others. I think he's kind of a category all his own.
I struggled where to put player, just because anyone with similar major wins has a lot more regular tour wins. He's up there with Watson and Hogan, but they both have a lot more tour wins. Understand that he had a ton of wins internationally, but it's hard to weigh those.
I generally put more importance on majors, but in cases like Palmer having 24 more total wins that Watson, I put him ahead even though he had one less. End of the day, it's really hard to do a list like this, so many good arguments to be made for so many players.
One big miss is I totally forgot about Sarazen, that was a big omission.

Yeah, RollTide, Sarazen is often overlooked. Jones HAS to be top five. Google his incredible life. Degrees from Ga Tech and Harvard and law school at Emory.
When he was allowed to play in pro tournaments, of the 11 US Opens he played, he won 4, and of the 4 British Opens, he won 3.Then he founds Augusta National AND joined the army during WW2 and went ashore in Normandy June 7th and took fire for a few days. Incredible dude.
As for Player, he and his family lived in South Africa so he could not play many PGA events. He instead focused on growing the game worldwide and piled up a ton of victories, no doubt lesser competition than the PGA tour. When he did come to the US, he won all our majors. Had he lived here and played on the PGA tour exclusively, he might be top 3 all time.

but why would someone having 8 majors but no Masters wins be less ranked all time than someone who has 4 majors but 1 of each?
Ask Koepka

I think when its all said and done he will be Top-10 of all time but I dont think he is there yet. Just listed everyone out and he is in my 11-14 tier.
Jack
Tiger
Hogan
Palmer
Jones
Player
Sneed
Watson
Hagen
Nelson
I have Rory in the next set:
Lefty
Rory
Faldo
Treviso
Where you could make an argument for each to be somewhere at 11-14.

Rory is right up there in the top 12.
A few more majors and he is definitely a top 10 all-time.
He is still fairly young at 36 so he has a lot of good golf left in him.
I can see another 3-5 majors and lots of PGA tournament wins
He has won 30 PGA events and has won lots on the European tour.
The next milestone for Rory is to get the 'double' grand slam title.
He needs another British Open and US Open title and he is there with only Jack and Tiger.
