That we now anticipate a PI call on most third down pass plays no matter how ticky tacky the call is...

I haven’t really noticed a large amount of PI calls this year.

Maybe that’s because we don’t have to go through a 30 minute challenge on everyone of them idk

I have...but I watch the Saints. But they're earning those calls for sure.

I've never liked the spot foul rule on PI in the NFL
I understand why they do it though because that's the style of game they want
Otherwise receiver would get mugged every single play downfield
Make it a 20 yard penalty or spot foul

Has ruined the pro game for me more than anything else. I say ditch the damn rule and let them play 1960s style.

the blindside block needs addressing before PI

I can understand that they want to take the bone crushing peel back blocks out of the game but they aren't even allowing you to touch a guy who has his head turned. It seems like you're rewarding the defense for over pursuit or being out of position.

I don't like when teams deliberately underthrow bombs or deliberately throw jump balls and get a cheap first down out of it.

You're asking a lot for a DB to keep up with a professional wide receiver and somehow sense that a pass was badly underthrown.

Yea that one call last night was God awful. What the hell is an offensive player running downfield to block supposed to do?

If I was a WR, I’d just slow down I intentionally to let the DB run into you. Easy 1st down.

By the way, why is it not “catch inference”? I see Dlinemen interfere with the passes all the tine by batting them down.

The mentality of most professional football players is to make a play. A lot of them have performance based contract incentives too, and those PI flags don't go towards their receiving yards. There weren't any egregious PI calls last night. If you hook a receivers arm and hold it while he's running by you as the ball is in the air, that will be flagged 10/10 times.

does it matter? if an ol tackles a dl, it's holding and not a tackle. no big deal. what about delay of game calls? everything is a delay of game.

I’ve been anticipating a PI call in all football games for the last 20 years

it would be a great improvement if it were changed so PI no longer existed and the only penalty that could be called would be holding and the short yardage that comes with that penalty

i would also like to see offensive holding be reduced to the same 5 yards it is for the defense. there is no reason offense gets 10 and defense only gets 5 yards

Maybe on an individual level is to go after the ball for stats. But from a game theory to win the game, you should go for the PI.

PI is flawed because it assumes the receiver will catch the ball 100% of the time. That’s why it’s a spot foul. It doesn’t take into account if the ball is underthrown, overthrown, out of bound, contested ball, drops.
