Is there a cliff you people can promptly jump off of? The world would seriously be a better place. Seriously, your mom will thank you.

I never said that.
I said i don't like people that dismiss an idea without even considering its veracity or looking into the possibility of it being true - like you.
But nice try bro

quote:golden how? by the time MJ broke through and won titles, bird's back was shot, the bad boy pistons were old, magic had aids, shaq was a pup, he never faced olajuwon in the finals, stockton and malone were a nice tandem, but were limited, 6'5 charles barkley was a dominating PF who admitted he didnt play enough defense
Jordan dominated the game during what was the golden era of the league
MJ had a top 5 player in the league and MVP candidate on his team in pippen. the best rebounder, rodman. the best euro, kukoc. the best shooter, kerr. the best coach, arguably of all time, phil jackson. seems MJ's team was stacked and everyone else barely stood a chance.

To be fair, MJ beat Magic head to head in the Finals during one of Magic's better seasons. And that was after the Bulls handled the two-time defending champ Pistons, who the Bulls also nearly beat the previous year.
And the last time the Eastern Conference was worth a shite was during the '90s.

Yet none of those guys were even in the same league as Jordan

The reason why Jordan never faced Olajuwon in the finals was because the Western Conference was absolutely stacked throughout the 90's. People talk a lot about Utah and Houston, but Portland, Seattle, and Phoenix were each loaded from 1990 to about 1995.
Look at Portland's roster, for instance.
Guards: Terry Porter, Clyde Drexler, and Danny Ainge Forwards/Center: Jerome Kersey, Buck Williams, Cliff Robinson, and Kevin Duckworth

quote:youre making my point. my original retort was to someone who implied the 90s the golden age of the NBA from a talent standpoint. my assessment is there wasnt alot of opposition, helping jordan appear so dominant. so while people seem to nostalgize that era as some type of "golden era", i contend its not due to the talent, but bc the most popular player at the time was running roughshod through the league.quote:Every single player in the nbaquote:which guys?quote:Yet none of those guys were even in the same league as Jordanquote:golden how? by the time MJ broke through and won titles, bird's back was shot, the bad boy pistons were old, magic had aids, shaq was a pup, he never faced olajuwon in the finals, stockton and malone were a nice tandem, but were limited, 6'5 charles barkley was a dominating PF who admitted he didnt play enough defense

Ummm...that was a laker team with no Kareem (retired) and no worthy (injured) where Pippen did most of the guarding of Magic.

Jordan played the final 3 months of the Bulls season in 1995. If the Bulls didn't play the rockets in the finals that year, then blame him.

Bird looks like a legit 7' in that pic.

Ummm... Worthy played 4 games and averaged 20 per. Scott played 4 as well. And Vlade performed better than 41-yr-old Kareem did three years prior when the Lakers last won it.

You're right, Jordan sucked, Will Perdue carried that Bulls dynasty

Worthy was still injured, hence why he ended up playing only 4 games. Kareem was not there regardless. Your first post seemed to skirt all that and implied Jordan beat the real showtime lakers (ie the true Golden age) when he did not.

He merely beat a team that won 58 games and had two future HOFers at the end of their primes. That team was good enough to steal game 1 in Chicago.

Really? What were Pippen (his HoF teammate), Grant (All star), and Amstrong (All star) doing that whole time while Jordan single handedly beat the old time Lakers?
