Biles might end up quitting on the others.

Good, I hope they get every penny.

I know there have been a lot of stories which have eroded public trust in major institutions lately, but this one is right up there in terms of most enraging. The 80 minute stand around in Uvalde is certainly a standalone number 1 on that list, but I’d put ‘FBI knowingly releasing a pedophile and lying about the statements from his victims to cover for him’ right up there in tier number 2.

Pay these women.

Frick that, why? Paying them punishes no one but the American Tax payer. If you want restitution put some people actually involved in jail or financially penalized, which won’t happen.

But this whole idea we should all just sue the government as a whole when it fails is BS and ultimately penalizes the regular citizen.

Because the FBI knowingly sent a pedophile to work with young, vulnerable girls. It wasn’t until the gymnasts went to the press several years later that they finally put a stop to this serial pedophile. In that stretch of time alone, thousands of additional instances of abuse occurred. If that were my kid who was being traumatized, I can guaran-damn-tee you that I’d want a whole lot more than just money. But given the lack of alternative recourse, punitive damages certainly seem like the absolute bare minimum we should be obligated to provide.

And of course, none of that omits that people should ALSO be going to jail. But since the FBI has already said that no one will be held accountable, monetary compensation is the absolute minimum baseline compensation we owe the victims.

Well I imagine at this point the FBI is monitoring their communications and concocting a fairytale about them being foreign agents. Their arrests should happen in short order.

I thank our esteemed FBI for keeping us safe from these ill motivated gymnasts.

Again, how does that deserve money? The ‘FBI’ wouldn’t pay?

Should it have been criminal? Absolutely, and punish the individuals involved criminally and sue them individually.

It was likely a small handful of people, I doubt the fbi had a convention and all voted to do this.

The FBI has already said that the culpable agents would not be punished in any way. So what’s the next option?

With punishment already off the table at this point, it’s not about “who pays?” any longer. It’s about “what do these victims deserve?” at this point. It’s already established that they won’t get the justice they deserve in the form of jail time for the perpetrators, so the absolute least we can do is establish that they are worthy of punitive damages.

Also, as for this…

…that’s an exceedingly weak cop out. FBI leadership declined to punish the agents responsible, which I’ll argue supported and sustains an established culture that shields individual agents from accountability when they commit horrible crimes. And when you create an institution wide culture of unaccountability, you can’t say it’s the fault of only a small handful of agents when that culture creates these terrible outcomes.

I’m fine with that. A major institution, which is supposed to work for me, fricked up in a major and inexcusable way. The victims deserve compensation, even if some of that ends up coming out of my tax dollars.

No way the FBI would allow Pedos to run free in our society, especially for political reasons.

you act like anyone in DC cares about having a balanced budget. Firing up the money printer for only a billion isn’t too bad a price for publicly damning federal malfeasance.at least when compared to the other things this government spends money on

GTFO.

Where do these absurd numbers even come from? Fine, pay them all $5 million. Move on with life if we never have to hear from them again.

If this fricked them up so badly, how come they were able to go out and make millions and win medals? I'm not protecting the FBI, I'm saying we shouldn't accept the FBI not punishing them and push harder for that.

This concept of stealing money from the taxpayers to pay for government officials frick ups is BS.

Sue the individuals in the FBI.

so because a dozen or so of the hundreds of victims went on to be successful the whole lot of them should just get over it? The number and the big names attached are about making this as public as possible. Nothing changes from an unknown gymnast suing an unknown FBI agent

They will win. Fbi is an incompetent. Branch of government.

Same with families of buffalo shooter,. Shooter was being groomed by. Fbi agent to be a home terrorist, nearly up to day of shooting. Lawyer repenting family of shooter has the receipts from his computer.

Fbi is doing this 24/7/365.

Journalist was tipped off by former or current FBI agent, wrote article about it, and how they were ramping it up,and this was 10 years ago.

one can only imagine how bad it is now, especially using social media to find these incels/loners, and using their mind tricks on them

Because this is such a unique case, it stands to establish some sort of precedent when it comes to law enforcement accountability and sexual assault. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is part of the mission the gymnasts are carrying out.
