As someone who’s been a staunch Libertarian for most of my life, I’ve had to rethink some of my positions.

Legalized gambling and porn are two things that are wrecking young men. Marijuana isn’t helping either.

I’m specifically starting to appreciate that the “gray zone” where a lot of this shite existed about 10–20 years ago was ideal.
same

i've been betting on cfb since before it was legal. it was a lot more fun when you had like two buddies to talk about it with and had to go to barstool or something similar to hear about gambling. now it's everywhere and it's just kind of gay

i'm an extremely casual gambler. i've wagered about 12k since it became legal and have profited about $100. i'd be down a bit but i dropped my nuts on LSU a couple times and hit.

i'm pretty good at picking cfb games though. i get absolutely destroyed in basketball and nfl so i'd bet i'm up a good 2-3k on cfb.

Arbitrage example, player X has a 3.5 rec o/u. Site A is offering +100 on the over and site B is offering +130 on the under. Bet $100 on the under and $115 on the over and you guarantee a $15 profit.

Sure. b/c that's a normal everyday thing that happens.
considering how many arbitrage opportunities you come across I guarantee no ones making $30k from racking up $15 arbitrage opportunities

We’ve gotten a lot dumber as a society. That or we just get a kick out of lying to ourselves.

When I was ~12 I asked my dad why gambling was illegal and he said “too many people will take money they can’t afford to lose to the casino. I’ll take you to Tunica some day and show you the sad reality of it.”

So, that was common knowledge to an Arkansas tween 25 years ago. And now we’re all pretending we didn’t know how this worked?

I mean that wasn’t why… your Baptist Bible Belt preachers kept gambling illegal and got rich doing so
