In fairness, it was ambiguous whether you were indicating that you believed you were the furthest from being a try-hard type douche or both a try-hard and a douche.

i can give another angle

Gronk is fun. he does fun things. he does them with a huge smile on his face.

Gronk works just as hard as JJ Watt (you don't become a superstar in the NFL, on the Patirots no less, without busting arse), but he has fun and realizes that football is just a game and he's getting millions of dollars to play it and get famous

this is JJ Watt's public persona

the worldview that Watt projects is one that football is life and life is serious so his life is being serious. it's retarded, especially since guys like Gronk show that you can be fricking awesome at football and work hard to get there while living life

like i originally said, it's authenticity. any intelligent and rational person can understand that you can both work really hard and have fun playing a game for millions of dollars. Gronk sees this as the ultimate opportunity to live it up unabashed while Watt (at least his public persona) sees this as the ultimate opportunity to act morose

I find it interesting how someone like JJ Watt is demonized on this board, but people eat Gronk's shite over childish antics.

They're basically opposites. One takes himself way too seriously and the other doesn't take anything seriously.

Did the bold font appear in the original or was it added for emphasis? The fact that it is JJ Watt makes it impossible to tell without a notation.

the biggest variable in Gronk's favor is that he's on the Pats and they win and love him

not only does this show that you can have fun on the Pats (not exactly the least serious organization in the NFL), but it also shows that you can have fun on a team and win

JJ Watt gets publicity for shite like this

when his team doesn't win nearly as much as Gronk's team

I see nothing wrong with that paragraph.

While Gronk is awesome, the Pats win with him or without him.

What seems fake about him? He seems like a good, salt-of-the-earth dude who does a ton of good for people who need it.

They did well, but you used that as the "biggest variable" between the too. They both do things their own way, and are successful.

I will say that if he was taking a shot at Gronk with the "i can drink beers when I retire" comment, then that is douchie, and the best examples I've seen

he wasn't taking a shot at Gronk specifically, i don't think, but more people like Gronk

and the "biggest variable" deals with this discussion. if gronk was just a compiler on the Browns or Jags, there would be an argument that his schtick was negative for the team. he plays for the best organization in the NFL and they continue to win while he has fun

from a rhetoric standpoint, it removes the biggest counter to Gronk, which is why it's so important for this discussion

I hadn't seen this before. And this dude is confused as to why people think Watt is a douche.

This is a good example.

See, I have no problem admitting when something goes against my opinion. See RB10, and the Rick?

That is exactly what we have been arguing. You, personally, have been complaining that I have a problem with that very thing.
